Sawadogo, a farmer from Burkina Faso, transformed an almost 40-hectare piece of inhospitable land into forest Australian Tony Rinaudo, an agronomist took on the role of combating the Sahel region's extreme deforestation.

The fourth edition of India International Science Festival will be inaugurated by President of India in Lucknow on October 6, 2018. IISF-2018 with its focal theme Science for Transformation will have 23 special events. The 4 th edition will be a tribute to former Prime Minister Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who had brought Science to the centre stage of national agenda. It was Shri Vajpayee who had added Jai Vigyan to Lal Bahadur Shastri s slogan of Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan. The first and second IISF were held in New Delhi and the third in Chennai.

Andhra Pradesh topped the Ease of Living Index ranking which was released by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs here on Sept 24, 2018. Odisha and Madhya Pradesh were in the second and third position respectively. The three were awarded the best performing States under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT). Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in June 2015, AMRUT aims at ensuring robust sewage networks, water supply and other infrastructure to improve the quality of life of people in urban areas.
