During this unusually bad flu season, we ask that you be prudent about not drinking from the cup at mass if you are sick or if you have a cold. Many thanks. Eucharistic Adoration During Lent We would like to have Eucharistic Adoration at Guardian Angels Church on Fridays during Lent. Eucharistic Adoration is adoring or honoring the Eucharistic Presence of Christ in a deeper sense. It involves "the contemplation of the Mystery of Christ truly present before us". During Adoration, we remain in His Presence and open ourselves to His Graces which flow from the Eucharist. This can be done by praying, reading or just being present. By worshiping the Eucharistic Jesus, we become what God wants us to be. If you are interested in coming to church on Fridays during Lent and praying for a period of time before the blessed sacrament (or just be present), please contact Fr. Mattingly at amattinly@guardianangelskc.org. We would like to know about individuals who are interested in this ministry, before we decide on hours this will take place. Parish Financial Support January 28, 2017 Envelopes... $2,633.00 Plate... $962.85 Total... $3,595.85 Thank you for your generosity! Currently the restroom in the back of church is being repaired; plaster is being fixed and a high toilet is being installed. Work is begun on the first floor restroom in the parish office; this has been needing repairs for quite some time. Also, work has started on our food pantry; we are putting in better shelving and lighting, to make it a more functional space and create a better experience for our friends and neighbors that frequent it. We are currently working with the city to get the sink hole repaired that appeared on the south side of the church close to Westport Road. Also, we have secured the problem with the roof over Papa Johns. I know much has been rumored and said about our financial situation here at Guardian Angels, but I can honestly say we are OK; could we be better sure but who couldn t? I apologize for not being able to give 4 Guardian Angels Parish you more updates but with the issue we had concerning financials with a former staff member, it took longer than I had hoped to get a real handle on where we stand. Rather than give out inaccurate information, we wanted to wait and see exactly where we stand. Various new accounting policies are being put in place to help lessen the chance of these type of thing occurring again. So please be patient with us if you come in to pay a deposit or donate and it takes an extra minute or two, so we can properly process and record everything correctly. I want to thank all of you have stayed the course with us and offered your prayers, they have been a great help. Ever since I have arrived here, I have had an open-door policy and invite anyone to come and meet with me if you have questions on what is occurring in the parish. I appreciate those who have taken me up on that offer over the last year and a half. I will always be as frank with you as possible and will give you a reason if I am not at liberty to discuss a certain topic like private personnel Kansas City, MO issues, or things still being investigated. I also want to thank all of you that help contribute to our building fund request last fall. Both funds and prayers (when so many things seemed to be going wrong) have been welcome. That money was secured in another parish account and is now being used to fund these much-needed improvements. We have a great parish here and there are signs of life going on all over; if we continue to work together our numbers will grow and all things become possible; Many Blessings. Deacon Tyrone
