Web: www.yfcec.co.za April 2016 News Letter Easter Camp 2016 I have recently returned from an amazing Easter Camp where God moved supernaturally! This has been an absolutely awesome camp. It all started on the first night with a drama/debate on the subject Do you believe God exists! (It was an awesome presentation!) After the debaters presented their individual position on the subject, the kids were left with that question as they went off to bed. After breakfast the next day, at the first morning session, Owen Domoney presented a powerful Gospel message to which over 40 kids responded by giving their lives to Christ. Roy & Owen, the camp speakers, took the kids on a journey that helped them to not only commit their lives to Christ but showed them how to continue to live for Him after camp. Another 6 kids responded to the call of the Gospel after the first evening session. Many more gave their lives to Christ in the small groups which were led by our trained leaders. Such amazing reports and testimonies came from these small groups. At the end of another successful Easter Camp, feedback and stories from our campers brought such joy, elation and hope. I wish all of you could have been at the testimony time on the final Monday of camp. Good reports have been pouring into our office since camp; so many have overwhelmed us and are so are amazing.
One kid arrived home into a volatile situation where his father said, Oh, so after the peace and quiet of the weekend the fighting is about to start again to which the kid responded, No dad, I met Jesus this weekend and my life has been changed and you will see the difference in the way I live. Another father wrote to us, My kids loved Easter Camp and came back home more in love with Jesus and grounded in their faith. Your talks were a hit. Positive reports are flooding in. Please give thanks to God for answered prayer. The photos on the right were taken at our early morning Sunrise Service on Sunday. What an amazing reminder of the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. And then an awesome breakfast as we celebrated that incredible event. TALENT SHOW: The photos on the left were taken at our Talent Show. Two celebrities in the making were involved in this event. The first is Avela, top left in the picture to the left, who has just released his first Christian album where he honours God and next to him, Cebo, (top right) who recently won 5 first awards in a city talent show with an incredibly powerful one man drama of his life that had the judges and the audience in tears. Awesome time! PLEASE PRAY: We have an area that needs much prayer as we look forward to the 2017 camp. Our Worship leader, Joe Taylor is getting married next month and he and his future wife, Mel, who has also been a member of the worship team, are going to seminary in Pietermaritzburg next year. Our sound engineer, come video editor, Donny Penton, who has supplied all our sound and video equipment for camp, is moving to Cape Town next month and Jess Elliot, our Camp administrator and member of the worship team, is also moving to Cape Town to further her studies. We need a miracle for next year so please trust with us for suitable replacements. God has never failed us!
Leadership Training: One of the keys to a successful camp is the leadership God supplies. God is doing something quite unique here in East London. Not only are the churches of the city doing things together, but Christian agencies like Scripture Union, YFC and the church youth leaders are assisting one another in developing leaders for the church of our city. What a privilege to see this unity cementing the church of tomorrow. We re so grateful to God for the privilege of being a part of this amazing unity in the city. These leaders were equipped and many of them had the joy of leading young people to the Lord on camp. The pictures on the right were taken at this year s training event which was held at Cambridge West Methodist Church. Easter Camp Leaders Most of the leaders of this year s Easter Camp are in the picture to the left. We re so blessed to have such a dedicated bunch of young leaders give their all in serving the kids on camp. Self Leadership Ministry in Schools It's a real joy to get feedback and positive stories of changed lives from the schools as a result of Dumza's involvement with our Self Leadership program in a number of High schools around our city. This "Self Leadership" program has impacted many lives. What a joy to hear from principals that their students are much more positive about themselves and their futures as a result of this ministry. Thank you Lord for Dumza and his commitment to the youth of our city! If you're looking for an opportunity to sow seed in good soil, here is an opportunity for you to impact teenagers who desperately need Jesus. This man has continued to work in the schools even when there was no finance coming in. Please pray for Dumza and especially his financial support! Sowing into his life is very GOOD soil. Thank you
Lord for the precious young people whose lives have been changed as a result of this ministry! Below is a testimony from one of the students: YFC Club Ministry In a recent YFC club meeting, 36 teens received Jesus as their Lord and Saviour. It s so amazing to see God at work in their lives. I m so grateful to God for Owen Domoney and his team of young people who are committed to making a difference in the lives of our cities teens. I will have some personal testimonies in the next news letter. We can finally put the news about the sale of E.L. YFC's House to rest. The good news is that the clearance has been issued and the proceeds of the sale have been paid to YFC. Thank you Jesus - please, rejoice with us. This matter is now closed hallelujah! The YFC office is now temporarily operating from Roy s home, 5 Tottenham Road, Baysville until we re in a position to rent premises again. Will you make that a matter of prayer please? From the Directors Desk: Thank you to those who have stood with us financially and prayerfully through the past months. Your sowing has added precious lives into the Kingdom of God. This is a partnership your support makes it possible for us to take the message to an audience who cannot support us financially. Many children's lives have been changed as a result of your generosity and commitment. Please continue to pray for our team and this ministry. If you feel God prompting you to support YFC, please complete the Debit Order below and return it to roy.yfc@gmail.com or fax it to 086 550 9444. You can also make direct deposits into that account. Yours in Jesus service, Roy
