Vestry Highlights From the February Meeting This was the first meeting of the new 2018 Vestry "configuration". We welcomed new members, Brian Sahlin and Sue Geis, and welcomed back Kelly Cozzi (she back filled Gene for 1 year so he could move to Junior Warden). As part of our introductions to the new members we all commented on what we would normally be doing on a Tuesday night if Vestry wasn't meeting! Dee Anne conducted a brief orientation that included information about the various by-laws and Safe Church training. We then welcomed guest, Rob Page, who reported out on last week's South Central Regional meeting. The meeting was very productive and was able to come up with a definition of what a "Parish" currently represents: "A parish is a community of theological imagination fed by word and sacrament forming disciples in God's mission connected to the wider body of Christ." The group also defined what it meant to be part of a "region". Rob also discussed his involvement with the annual mission trip to Nicaragua. He praised our partnership with El Porvenir - he had been on other mission trips that were not as organized! He is often asked the question, why don't we just send money? He explained that things actually need to be physically built and that is about building http://campaign.r20.constantcontact.com/render?m=1104450241966&ca=668b9bf2-4c6d-4bd1-b291-11280e012810 3/9
relationships with both the Nicaraguan community and fellow missioners. We then moved onto important agenda items and passed the following motions: 1. St. Paul's will expect missioners to pay the following amounts if they want to volunteer for the yearly mission trip to Nicaragua: $500 St. Paul's parishioners; $1,000 South Central Regional District parishioners; $1,500 all other volunteers/non-parishioners. 1. $10,000 left over from the Sacred Trust's2017 mandatory distribution will be used toward the 2018 Nicaragua mission trip. The Vestry then went on to discuss the annual parochial report - Vestry is required to review and approve this report on an annual basis. A motion passed to accept and submit the report as presented. Finally, the Vestry approved the monthly Treasurer's report as emailed. Unfortunately, we had to table discussions on both internet and physical security - but both will be discussed at the March meeting in 3 weeks. Please keep in mind the following dates: Church Open - M-Sat 10:00-1:00 until Easter! Good Book Club - every day until Pentecost!
