liturgist *CALL TO WORSHIP (to be led by the liturgist) (to be prayed by the liturgist) Holy God, like fishermen after a long, difficult night, we come after a week that has left some of us exhausted, some of us filled with affirmation, some of us uncertain, some of us overjoyed, and some of us bewildered. Help us to put aside the emotions of this past week, so that with open ears and open hearts we may hear your word and apply it to our lives. In Jesus name we pray, Amen. *CALL TO CONFESSION (to be read by the liturgist) When confronted with the power and presence of God in Jesus Christ, Simon Peter fell at Jesus knees and proclaimed, Go away from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man. Simon could not encounter God s presence without being changed and acknowledging his faults. When we come into the presence of God in worship, our own sinfulness is laid bare. We are forced to be honest with ourselves, and with God, about who we are, the mistakes we have made, and how well or poorly we care for our neighbor. My sisters and brothers, here in the presence of God, let us fall down at Jesus knees and confess our sins first in a time of silent prayer for our sins as individuals and then in a time of prayer said responsively for our sins as a community. Let us pray PARDON (to be led by the liturgist)
