We a have few things to share with you before our program begins. Concert Manners EVAN: Concert manners are easy to keep. Be quiet, don t talk and stay in your seat. Star Spangled Banner and Pledge of Allegiance- BLYTHE: During the war of 1812, Francis Scott Key was on a boat in Baltimore Harbor. SCOUT: From there, he witnessed the bombing of the Fort McHenry by the British army. WILL S: All through the night, he caught glimpses of the American flag through the smoke and flashes of light from the bombing. Evan: In the morning, he was so thrilled to see the flag still flying that he was inspired to write a poem about it. Amore: The poem he wrote was later set to the tune of another song and eventually became America s national anthem, The Star Spangled Banner. Maggie: Please stand for the presentation of colors.

The freedoms we enjoy today did not come without a price. There were some who gave of their fortunes and lands and some who dedicated their lives for public service. CHARLOTTE: There were also many who left the comforts of home and family to defend our nation in far off lands. And there were far too many who made the supreme sacrifice for their country. BRADYN: The legacy of those who were willing to preserve, protect and defend our liberty lives on in those who serve our nation today in the many branches of our military. The debt we owe them can never be adequately paid and our gratitude never fully expressed. JENNA: It is fitting that we show our appreciation and pay tribute to the men and women of the armed forces of the United States of America. MULHERIN FLAG FOLDERS: BOY/CUB SCOUTS- I am Old Glory with a most beautiful message. I am the symbol of a country that has grown from a little group of thirteen colonies to a united nation of fifty states. A symbol of liberty and strength, I have traveled far and endured much to carry my message throughout the world. The first fold of our flag is a symbol of life. (Pause during the Fold) The second fold is a symbol of our belief in eternal life. (Pause during the Fold) The third fold is made in honor and remembrance of the veterans who gave a portion of their life for the defense of our country and to attain peace throughout the world. (Pause during the Fold) The sixth fold is where our hearts lie. For it is with our hearts that we pledge our allegiance to the flag. (Pause during the Fold) The ninth fold is a tribute to mothers, for it has been through their faith, love, loyalty and devotion that the character of a soldier has been molded. (Pause during the Fold) The tenth fold is a tribute to fathers, for they too have given their sons and daughters for the defense of our country. (Pause during the Fold) The eleventh fold represents the seal of King Solomon. (Pause during the Fold) The twelfth fold represents eternity. (Fold) When the flag is completely folded, the stars are on top, reminding us of our national motto, In God We Trust. (Pause as the troop displays the Flag) We present to you what is known as the military s most honored and cherished possession, the United States National Flag the flag which is the true emblem of our unity, our thoughts, our power, and our purpose as a nation. We accept it, protect it, guard it, and defend it with pride. On this day, we salute the men and women who have served their nation and its citizens; we salute and honor our American Veterans. JOHNSON REECE: November is the month to be thankful. When you are remembering all of the things that you have to be thankful for, veterans should be at the top of the list. IZZY: Throughout our history, many people have made many sacrifices fighting for our freedom. Because of their sacrifice, we enjoy a free and peaceful country. AMIAH: We need to develop the same love for our country that the veterans have shown. They have always kept us safe in the past and are still keeping us safe right not. ETHAN: Today we show our gratefulness by remembering our veterans. Always remember, no matter where you go, America is always your home. THOMPSON: Take A Moment To Thank A Veteran HAYDEN: When you see someone in a uniform, Someone who serves us all, Doing military duty, Answering their country s call, ANH: Take a moment to thank them For protecting what you hold dear; Tell them you are proud of them; Make it very clear.
