Who is Boost for? Christianity is out of favour in Western cultures. Secular Humanism is dominating culture, and becoming more exclusive of other worldviews. What do Christian young people need to thrive in this environment? - be well grounded: with good and satisfying reasons for their mind, heart-felt convictions, Spirit-led living, and practical work to do. - exert their own Christlike influence on their worlds - endure hardships and extend faith hope and love to others with joy, which means to do all things in Christ. This can be developed before they leave school. - Boost is pitched at year 10. But younger and older may attend. - Leaders may also attend to use the pathway to develop their young people. An intentional Pathway of teaching, tools, & disciplines to practice with Support 4

What is Boost? Boost is: a series of one-day intensives. One per term over 2 years developing teens (and their Parents, Youth Leaders, Teachers etc) along a defined pathway from knowing Jesus, to growing, to going to influence the world. to be used in step with the Spirit. Not some man-powered 'system' but offers a series of Biblical input & useable tools which have been tried, refined, and used by young people at various stages of their development toward their own ministry and influence. Boost intensives are a mix of: - Practical Input - Group work - Workshop practice - Accountability pairs - Games - Food - Friends 5

Boost Presenters Geoff: 0411 324 245 geoff.westlake@oac.org.au oac.org.au Good News is about Christian faith and life skills. Good Ways means, ethically, practically, enjoyably presented. We're in churches & outreach settings such as camps, schools, homes, parks - especially if hearers are nt particularly pro-christian. 21

BOOST S MISSION to help Christian young people to think and live in accord with a biblical worldview so that they will serve Christ and lead the culture. STATEMENT OF FAITH: OAC Ministries Australia A. The Scriptures We believe God inspired all the words of the Bible without error in the original writings to give mankind His authoritative message. B. The Godhead We believe in one God eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. C. Jesus Christ We believe in His full deity, His virgin birth, His real humanity, His sinless life, His substitutionary death, His bodily resurrection, His ascension into heaven, His present ministry as High Priest and His future personal return to this earth. D. The Holy Spirit We believe in his full deity. He convicts sinners and saves those who believe in Christ. He indwells, seals and places believers into the body of Christ. He gives spiritual gifts and the power to live the Christian life. E. Humanity We believe that God created all things as described in Genesis. We believe that the first man, Adam, sinned, bringing spiritual death to all mankind, who, therefore, stand condemned, making the new birth absolutely necessary. F. Salvation We believe that God gives eternal life to those who repent and put their faith in Christ alone, justifying them by the blood of Christ and imputing His righteousness to them. G. The Church We believe in the universal church to which all believers belong. We believe in the importance of the local church which is made up of believers who gather for worship, fellowship and teaching. We believe in the responsibility of the church to fulfil the Great Commission of Christ, preaching the Gospel to all nations. H. The Future We believe in the eternal existence of the soul, the resurrection of the body, the eternal blessedness of believers and the eternal punishment of unbelievers. 22

STATEMENT OF BELIEF: Scripture union WA As the Scripture Union family throughout the world, we accept and proclaim the historic truths of the Christian faith, including the following: A. God and the human race We hold that that the Lord our God is one: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and that he fulfils his sovereign purposes in creation, revelation, redemption, judgement, and the coming of his kingdom by calling out from the world a people united to himself and to each other in love. We acknowledge that though God made us in his own likeness and image, conferring on us dignity and worth and enabling us to respond to himself, we now are members of a fallen race; we have sinned and come short of his glory. We believe that the Father has shown us his holy love in giving Jesus Christ, his only Son, for us, while through our sinfulness and guilt, we were subject to his wrath and condemnation; and has shown his grace by putting sinners right with himself when they place their trust in his Son. We confess Jesus Christ as Lord and God; as truly human, born of the virgin Mary; as Servant, sinless, full of grace and truth; as only Mediator and Saviour, dying on the cross in our place, representing us to God, redeeming us from the grip, guilt and punishment of sin; as Victor over Satan and all his forces, rising from death with a glorious body, being taken up to be with his Father, one day returning personally in glory and judgement to establish his kingdom. We believe in the Holy Spirit who convicts the world of guilt in regard to sin, righteousness and judgement; who makes the death of Christ effective to sinners, declaring that they must now turn to Christ in repentance, and directing their trust towards the Lord Jesus Christ; who through the new birth makes us partake in the life of the risen Christ, and who is present within all believers, illuminating their minds to grasp the truth of Scripture, producing in them his fruit, granting to them his gifts, and empowering them for service in the world. B. The Scriptures We believe that the Old and New Testament Scriptures are God-breathed, since their writers spoke from God as they were moved by the Holy Spirit; hence are fully trustworthy in all that they affirm; and are our highest authority for faith and life. C. The Church and its Mission We recognise the Church as the body of Christ held together and growing up in him; both as a total fellowship throughout the world, and as the local congregation in which believers gather. We acknowledge the commission of Christ to proclaim the Good News to all people, making them disciples, and teaching them to obey him; and We acknowledge the command of Christ to love our neighbours, resulting in service to the church and society, in seeking reconciliation for all with God and their fellows, in proclaiming liberty from every kind of oppression; and in spreading Christ s justice in an unjust world...until he comes again. 23
