Each member of the team takes a week at a time and visits hospitalized Centerville Baptist Church family and friends or those having surgery by making a short visit and having prayer with them. It is our goal to have at least 8 members on the team. At this time we have only 5 members. Please consider joining us for a rewarding experience of being the hands and feet of Jesus. For additional information about this ministry team, please contact Cordy Beasley at 407-0758 or cordybeasley@gmail.com. This fall, many of us renewed commitments to God s kingdom and to Centerville Baptist through the framework of the Next Steps campaign. Next Steps was but a small attempt to focus our attention on God s continual call to embrace new ways of belonging, loving, and serving. I celebrate both the formal decisions that were made and the overall momentum stirring Centerville forward. Based on the Next Steps response cards alone, forty people pledged to take one or more steps. The folks who responded include children, young adults, older adults, new faces, and long-time members. Every one of our six steps received responses. Some commitments were evident to the entire congregation: we baptized two people on our first Sunday of Next Steps, and we ve had five additional families join Centerville since then. What s more, we have a number of additional requests for baptisms and membership. Though we have wrapped up the official focus on Next Steps for 2016, it will remain as an ongoing resource. We will continue our web page, www.centervillebaptistchurch.org/ Next_Steps.html and, as promised, fill it out with the remaining videos and documents that we used during the campaign. We will also keep hard copies of those documents available for new people or for anyone wanting to consider their Next Step commitments at Centerville. If you have questions or would still like to consider your steps, feel free to contact me (cbcequipping.pastor@verizon.net; 540-220-4376). As we prepare in Advent, celebrate in Christmas, and resolve in the New Year, my prayer for Centerville continues that in the ongoing messiness of being church together, we all experience the renewal, clarity, and direction we need to move forward in faith. Blessings, Brian Harfst

Parents/Kids Any ideas or suggestions for things you would like to do in 2017? We will start planning events/projects for the upcoming year and appreciate any input. Please contact Ginny Page and Zipper Harfst. Attention families looking for Advent devotions: For those families that used the daily Thanksgiving devotions Zipper provided last month or for those of you who would like to begin family devotions, we ve found an Advent series that we like at http://www.fmumc.org/filerequest/1913.pdf. The devotions were designed for a specific church a couple of years ago, but it s not hard to make the necessary adjustments to dates and location. I hope this resource helps, and I d be glad to talk with anyone about Advent or family devotions in general. Blessings, Brian Harfst Equipping Pastor

Merry Christmas and Happiest of Holidays from the Extended Child Care Ministries The month of December goes by so fast. We are always hustling and bustling, here and there with so much to do. Please remember the reason for the season, Christ our Savior. Slow down and take time to read the most wonderful story of all, the story of his birth. There would be no Christmas season without him. There was no room in the inn. Peace and humility are values worth sharing this season. But the meek shall delight themselves in the abundance of Peace. Psalms 37:11 Santa and Mrs. Clause will be making a visit to the Extended Care on December 22nd for cookies, photos and even a story @2:00. Feel free to stop in. God Bless, Norma Harrington Extended Child Care Director 546-2356
