True/False Students take part in Holy Week A Good Friday Fish Fry Friday, April 14, 2017 4:00-7:00 pm The Good Friday Fish Fry is right around the corner. Please see the attached flyer and the link for the sign up genius page to volunteer. We begin Holy Week with the celebration of Palm Sunday. On Holy Thursday, we will have a 7th grader carry up the sacred Chrism which will be used at Confirmation and there will be a 7th grade boy and a 2nd grade boy and girl participate in the foot washing.the foot washing recalls Christ washing the feet of his apostles. He told them to serve others as He served. How do we serve one another? Our 2nd graders will participate in the solemn process of the Eucharist during the Holy Thursday Liturgy. On this night, we recall the Last Supper when Christ gave us the Eucharist. Do we recognize that the Eucharist is our SPIRITUAL food. Each time we receive the Eucharist, we receive the body and blood of Christ. He strengthens us and helps us build a relationship with God. As we need food, for our physical bodies, so do we need spiritual food to walk this life in His peace. If only, we all could see the gift of the Eucharist and receive it often There will be a dessert collection at drop off on Wednesday, April 12th. Desserts will also be accepted at the school office throughout the day on Wednesday. Those students that bring a dessert donation will be able to dress down on Spirit Dress on Wednesday, April 26th. I appreciate your commitment to St. Simon! This is the sign-up genius link: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/20foc4badad23af85-help WE ARE ST. SIMON! Thank you, Erin Lawrence Fish Fry Chair Good food strengthens. How has the Eucharist strengthened you? Our 7th graders will celebrate the Foot Washing in a prayer service at 2:15 on Wednesday, April 12 in church. You are welcome to join us. Bread of Life, nourish us with your love so that we may live it faithfully on our way Enjoy eachday! Mary Jo Ponder

8th Grade Play Friday, May 5th & Saturday, May 6th The Class of 2017 s Eighth Grade Play is Shrek, the Musical, Jr. Mark your calendars to save the date. Ticket order forms will be included in the next newsletter and ticket sales will start immediately following Spring Break. Orders will be filled daily so send in early to get better assigned seating Please note there will not be an all school performance on Friday this year. Looking for a spiritual Boost? Simon Says Preschool and St. Simon School are looking for volunteers to help in the new Religion class called the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. The class is every Thursday from 9 am - 2 pm. We need help guiding the children through the different centers that are set up for them to explore. Helping them with a craft, reading scripture or stories are some of the jobs that we need help with! Any time you can offer would be helpful. The program is run by Beth Bartolotta and has taken off in an amazing direction. You will be thrilled to be a part of this experience. It is such a blessing to witness the power God has to build a relationship with our youngest members. You too will be filled with joy as you see their faith and love for God grow. Come once a month or come weekly! We need your help! Please contact Michele Snyder at 314-842-3848 ext. 300 or simonsays@stsimonchurch.org to sign up or to answer any other questions you might have! All volunteers must meet the child safety requirements- attend a Protecting God s children class (archstl.org to view classes) complete paperwork for a background check, and agree to the Code of Ethical Conduct. Need help with these requirements: contact Maggie Moore 314-842-3848 ext. 132 or pgc@stsimonchurch.org. Thank you in advance for considering this opportunity!
