Coming Events THIS WEEK TONIGHT! Ice Cream Social/Appreciation Everyone s encouraged to join us for an ice cream social tonight at 6p at the church basement. This will be an appreciation event for Pastor Dennis s work with us as our Transitional Pastor, so please come show him our gratitude. (Note: Our youth group will meet together in the basement for this event. Also, Church on the Court will end early so we can all participate in honoring and thanking Dennis.) Nursery Play Dates All parents with small children are invited to join us in our nursery here at First Baptist for an informal play date every Wednesday from 10a-12p Noon. Questions? Contact Kelly Rector (812-265-2331). Prayer Vigil Our deacons are sponsoring a 24 hour prayer vigil and Scripture reading from August 25th, 8:30a until August 26th, 8:30a. This will cover the 24 hours before Randy Crutchfield takes over as our senior pastor. Prayer will be held in the prayer room and the Scripture reading will be in the sanctuary. Sign ups are in the lower auditorium with times available in half hour increments. (Deacons will be present for 3 hour shifts for prayer and security.) NEXT WEEK Randy s Installation Service & Pitch-in We ll be holding an Installation service for Randy Crutchfield during both services next Sunday, August 26th. Then, after second service, we ll hold a pitch-in lunch in the basement to celebrate, and for the Crutchfields and our church to share about the ministries and growth that happened during Randy s sabbatical. COMING SOON New Sunday School Class We re starting a new Sunday school class for adults! Our target age range is adults in their 20s -30s. The class will start on September 9th and be led by Dennie Brierly. The first study topic will be 1st John, Going Deeper In Christ, looking at What does it mean to go deeper in our faith? (Room location TBA.) Bulletin announcements are due the Thursday before the Sunday you d like it printed. Guidelines for writing one are available outside our office.

Opportunities & Reminders GIVING & SERVING OPPORTUNITIES Small Group Leaders We ll be holding several 10-week long small groups beginning September 10th and ending the week of November 12th and we re looking for people to facilitate them. You re welcome to suggest a topic, or ask Dennis for suggestions. We d love to have at least seven groups. To be part of this opportunity, write Small Group Leader on your communication card or contact our office at allstaff@madisonfbc.org or 812-265-231. Newsletter Deadline If you re involved in a ministry with First Baptist, you can encourage our church family by sharing a brief activity update, photos, and/or a story for our newsletter. Guidelines are available outside our church office. Submissions for next month s newsletter due Thursday, August 23rd. Deaconess Team Our deaconess team is looking for women of all ages to join their team. If you re interested in visiting our shut-ins, encouraging our college students, helping with baptisms, communion and serving our congregation, this is the place for you! To joining the team, please contact Beth Skirvin at 812-599-2940. Jefferson House We re collecting items for the Jefferson House, a local inhouse rehab program for men with alcohol and drug addictions. They especially need paper towels, toilet paper, and cleaning supplies. Items can be dropped off in the lower auditorium. (Please label donations Jefferson House so we know what ministry you are donating to.) House of Hope House of Hope is in great need of boxes or bags of pasta, any and all kinds. (No economy sizes, please!) To donate, please drop off items in the designated basket in the lower auditorium. REMINDERS Pick Up Your Dishes We have several dishes and food containers left over from recent meals. Please check the hallway outside the lower auditorium kitchen and take your dishes home with you! College Address Update If you/your student is attending college, we d love to have you provide us with your school contact information and your birthday so we can stay in contact with you. Just write the information on your communication card, or submit the information to our church office. (If you ve given us your college info before, please confirm that it s the same.)
