ENTRANCE Prelude Prelude and Fugue in G Sylvia Mulherin Bach Welcome and Announcements Choral Call to Worship Humble Thyself in the Sight of the Lord Chancel Choir Call to Worship Psalm 105 Give thanks to the Lord. Call on the name of God! Make the Lord s deeds known to all people! Sing out; sing to God. Sing your praise to the Lord! Sing of all God s wonderful works! All that we need, all that we could ask for, God gives in abundance! Alleluia! We give thanks and praise to the Lord! Hymn Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing UMH #400 Opening Prayer God of life and wisdom, we lay before you the idle grumblings that often overtake us. When daily annoyances come, may we be aware enough of your abundance that joy may overcome bitterness. Where we have real complaints, grant us first the grace of self-examination and then the gifts of careful, honest speech and listening hearts. And then the answer is unexpected like manna instead of fleshpots, or the last paid first. Help us discern the signs, wonders, habits and ways of your coming realm. In Christ s name we pray. Amen. OCTOBER IS LAMB CENTER MONTH AT ST. GEORGE'S The Lamb Center is a day time drop-in center for the poor and homeless in Central Fairfax County. Through Lamb Center, the love of God has transformed lives and created a caring community among the poor and homeless. Our congregation supports Lamb Center and dedicates the month of October for collecting much needed items. Paper shopping bags with the list of needed items will be distributed to the congregation on September 28. As you scan the list, you will recognize the use made of them in 2013: 31,576 visits, averaging 107 daily, 892 showers, 43,000 meals served, 10,000 counseling sessions, 364 AA meetings, and 11,136 loads of laundry. Two Bible studies are held daily and clergy provide a worship service on Thursday. Lamb Center will welcome your active participation in helping transform the lives of those who come to Lamb Center seeking help, encouragement and hope for their lives." UMYF - IT'S TIME TO ROCK Please bring your Bibles as we go through discussion what it means to ROCK someone and putting together the 2014-2015 ROCK. USHERS If anyone would be interested in ushering one Sunday per month, please contact Dave Ford at dford.sc@gmail.com. The more people we have volunteer, the less Sundays you have to work!
