Saturday Sabbath Service Welcome to El Shaddai Ministries! Each Saturday Pastor Mark Biltz will be teaching a series on "The Road to Emmaus" and The Gospels & Acts from a Hebraic perspective 20101106 "The Road to Emmaus" Pastor Mark Biltz tdlwt Toldot - Generations Gen 25:19-28:9 / Mal 1:1-2:7 / Matt 13,14 Ge 25:19 And these are the generations of Isaac, Abraham's son: Abraham begat Isaac: The word toldot is much more than just genealogies. It implies all the stories that accompany it. Ge 25:27 And the boys grew: and Esau was a cunning hunter, a man of the field; and Jacob was a plain man, dwelling in tents. Ge 25:27 And the boys grew, and Esau became a man skilled in hunting, a man of the field; and Jacob was a homely man, dwelling in tents. Ge 25:27 And the boys grew. And Esau was a skillful hunter, a man of the field. And Jacob was a quiet man, dwelling in tents. 8535. Mt tam, complete; usually (morally) pious; specifically, perfect, undefiled, upright. Ex 12:5 Your lamb shall be without blemish, 8549. ymt tamiy integrity, truth:--without blemish, complete, blameless, without spot, Jacob foreshadowed the Messiah the one who was blameless. Ge 26:1-5 And there was a famine in the land, beside the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went unto Abimelech king of the Philistines unto Gerar. And the LORD appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of: Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father; And I will make thy seed to 1 P a g e

multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws. Ge 26:12-14 Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the LORD blessed him. And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great: For he had possession of flocks, and possession of herds, and great store of servants: and the Philistines(Palestinians) envied him. Ge 26:27-29 And Isaac said unto them, Wherefore come ye to me, seeing ye hate me, and have sent me away from you? And they said, We saw certainly that the LORD was with thee: and we said, Let there be now an oath betwixt us, even betwixt us and thee, and let us make a covenant with thee; That thou wilt do us no hurt, as we have not touched thee, and as we have done unto thee nothing but good, and have sent thee away in peace: thou art now the blessed of the LORD. Messianic times are coming when the Palestinians will seek out Abraham s seed, confess they are the blessed of the Lord and seek a true peace from Messiah Himself. Mt 13:3 And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow; Mt 13:8 But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, Mt 13:23 But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, Ge 27:1 And it came to pass, that when Isaac was old, and his eyes were dim, so that he could not see, he called Esau his eldest son, and said unto him, My son: and he said unto him, Behold, here am I. Ro 11:25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles be come in. Pr 20:12 The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the LORD hath made even both of them. 2 P a g e

Ge 27:9 Go now to the flock, and fetch me from thence two good kids of the goats; and I will make them savoury meat for thy father, such as he loveth: Ge 27:15 And Rebekah took goodly raiment of her eldest son Esau, which were with her in the house, and put them upon Jacob her younger son: And she put the skins of the kids of the goats upon his hands, and upon the smooth of his neck: According to Jewish writings Rebekah and Jacob carried their plan to deceive Isaac, whose eyes were dimmed, on Passover! One was the Passover goat and the other was the chagigah offering. Also it s interesting that two goats were required on Yom Kippur. So here Messiah takes on the role of a sin offering in disguise to win the blessing! Ge 27:27-29 And he came near, and kissed him: and he smelled the smell of his raiment, and blessed him, and said, See, the smell of my son is as the smell of a field which the LORD hath blessed: Therefore God give thee of the dew of heaven, and the fatness of the earth, and plenty of corn and wine: Let people serve thee, and nations bow down to thee: be lord over thy brethren, and let thy mother's sons bow down to thee: cursed be every one that curseth thee, and blessed be he that blesseth thee. Heb 11:20 By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau concerning things to come.!!!!! Ge 27:28,29 Therefore may God give you: Of the dew of heaven, Of the fatness of the earth, And plenty of grain and wine. Let peoples serve you, And nations bow down to you. Be master over your brethren, And let your mother's sons bow down to you. Cursed be everyone who curses you, And blessed be those who bless you!" This is all a blessing concerning the Messiah and the Messianic Era Dew of heaven: Equates to the resurrection of the dead Isa 26:19 Your dead shall live; Together with my dead body they shall arise. Awake and sing, you who dwell in dust; For your dew is like the dew of herbs, And the earth shall cast out the dead. Song 5:2a I sleep, but my heart is awake. 3 P a g e

Da 12:2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. Song 5:2ab It is the sound of my Beloved that knocks, saying, Open to Me, My sister, My love, My dove, My undefiled; for My head is filled with dew, My locks with the drops of the night. The fatness of the earth: Shaman - Idiom for the rich oil from the olive tree 8081. Nmv shemen, especially liquid (as from the olive, anointing, fruitful, olive, Ps 23:5 You prepare a table for me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil;(shemen) my cup runs over. Olive oil is what is used for anointing. Da 9:25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, #4899. xyvm maw-shee'-akh anointed; usually a consecrated person (as a king, or a priest specifically, the Messiah:--anointed, Messiah. This blessing prophesies to Jacob that from his seed will come the promised Messiah, the anointed one! And plenty of grain and wine; Jer 31:11,12 For the LORD hath redeemed Jacob, and ransomed him from the hand of him that was stronger than he. Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of Zion, and shall flow together to the goodness of the LORD, for wheat, and for wine, and for oil, and for the young of the flock and of the herd: and their soul shall be as a watered garden; and they shall not sorrow any more at all. Joe 2:23,24 Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month. And the floors shall be full of wheat, and the fats shall overflow with wine and oil. The grain, wine and oil also refer Messianically to the Feasts. Let peoples serve you, And nations bow down to you. Be master over your brethren, And let your mother's sons bow down to you. Ps 72:6-11 He shall come down like rain upon the mown grass: as showers that water the earth. In his days shall the righteous flourish; and abundance of peace so long as the moon endureth. 4 P a g e

endureth. He shall have dominion also from sea to sea, and from the river unto the ends of the earth. They that dwell in the wilderness shall bow before him; and his enemies shall lick the dust. The kings of Tarshish and of the isles shall bring presents: the kings of Sheba and Seba shall offer gifts. Yea, all kings shall fall down before him: all nations shall serve him. Isa 45:23-25 I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear. Surely, shall one say, in the LORD have I righteousness and strength: even to him shall men come; and all that are incensed against him shall be ashamed. In the LORD shall all the seed of Israel be justified, and shall glory. Ps 22:22 I will declare Your name to my brothers; in the midst of the congregation I will praise You. Cursed be everyone who curses you, And blessed be those who bless you!" Ps 118:26 Blessed is He coming in the name of the LORD; we have blessed You out of the house of the LORD. Ps 2:1-3 Why do the nations rage, and the peoples meditate on a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers plot together, against the LORD and against His anointed, saying, Let us break their bands in two and cast away their cords from us. Ps 2:11,12 Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, and you perish from the way, when His wrath is kindled in but a little time. Blessed are all who put their trust in Him. The Gospels & Acts from a Hebraic Perspective- MATTHEW 13, 14 Parables were used to make truths easier to understand not to make them harder to comprehend. Some of the church fathers thought Yeshua was trying to hide his message by cleverly concealing truths. Parables are illustrations not riddles. They called for decisions from everyone who listened. 5 P a g e

Mt 13:34,35 All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spake he not unto them: That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world. In other words those things that had been kept secret will now be made known through his parables/illustrations. Ps 78:1-8 Give ear, O my people, to my law(torah): incline your ears to the words of my mouth. I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old: Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us. We will not hide them from their children, showing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done. For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law(torah) in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children: That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children: That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments: And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not steadfast with God. Mt 13:1-4 The same day went Jesus out of the house, and sat by the sea side. And great multitudes were gathered together unto him, so that he went into a ship, and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore. And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow; The Parable of the Sower really is the wrong title from a Hebrew perspective. It should be called the Parable of the Hearers. The Sower is the Preacher, the Seed is the Word of God,(Think Torah!!) but the parable is really about four different types of people who receive the seed or hear the Word/Torah with their responses and the resulting harvest or lack thereof. Not everyone is familiar with the Jewish method of teaching that speaks about 4 types of disciples. In Jewish literature they would always have 4 types of disciples studying Torah: Four Passover children The sponge, the funnel, a strainer and a sieve Unclean fish, clean fish, fish from the Jordan and fish from the Mediterranean 6 P a g e

Jer 4:3 For thus saith the LORD to the men of Judah and Jerusalem, Break up your fallow ground, and sow not among thorns. Ho 10:12 Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you. Isa 55:10,11 For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. In Jewish thought this verse describes the study of Torah. God s Word is the seed. The Torah is likened to rain. Isa 55:6,7 Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. Isa 6:9,10 And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not. Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed. You hear it but you don t get it. You see it, but you don t get it. Both Isaiah and Yeshua wanted the listeners to be healed but this would only happen if they put the message into practice. Not everyone was willing to hear and obey. The parable of the Hearers is a parable of the Harvest. Those who hear and obey produce much fruit. Mt 14:23-33 And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone. But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary. And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, 7 P a g e

to go to Jesus. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased. Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God. Mt 4:19 And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. Joh 21:7-11 Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved saith unto Peter, It is the Lord. Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he girt his fisher's coat unto him, (for he was naked,) and did cast himself into the sea. And the other disciples came in a little ship; (for they were not far from land, but as it were two hundred cubits,) dragging the net with fishes. As soon then as they were come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid thereon, and bread. Jesus saith unto them, Bring of the fish which ye have now caught. Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land full of great fishes, an hundred and fifty and three: and for all there were so many, yet was not the net broken. 8 P a g e
