Workshop: He will love them and they will love Him ( و يحبونه (يحبهم Day 2 (كيف يحب هللا ) love? How does Allah (swt) So how does Allah (swt) show love? These are signs: (حسن التدبير لعبده ( matters 1. Taking care of all of your Protection from the (الرفق و األخالق ( manners 3. Gentleness and good 4. Acceptance on earth في األرض) :(القبول People whom you don t even know, Allah (swt) will put their inclination towards you. So many people want to be accepted by others, so they change themselves, subhan Allah. When Allah (swt) loves you, then people will accept you and love you. You need to remember that everything in life should be for Allah (swt). When Allah (swt) loves you, you will love Allah (swt) in the right way, not just by words. Will everybody like you? No the believers will accept and love you. في ح به أه ل الس ماء ث م ي وض ع ل ه said, "If Allah loves a (ﷺ) (Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet (القب ول ف ي أه ل األر ض person, He calls Gabriel saying: 'Allah loves so and so; O Gabriel, love him.' Gabriel would love him, and then Gabriel would make an announcement among the residents of the Heaven, 'Allah loves so-and-so, therefore, you should love him also.' So, all the residents of the Heavens would love him and then he is granted the pleasure of the people of the earth.") Sahih Al Bukhari 6040 Imagine Allah (swt) is so great and He loves a person, so He will call on Jibreel (as) to love him and this shows you that the hearts are in the hands of Allah (swt) it is just Be and it is. And then Jibreel will call on all of the angels to love him, so all of the dwellers of the heavens will love him. Then the people on earth will love him too, it is said that even the objects the animals, trees, stones, subhan Allah. It shows they have a memory and feelings. قال رسول هللا صلى هللا عليه و سلم: ما من عبد اال و له صيت في السماء فإن كان صيته في السماء ( Hadith: o said: (The Prophet (pbuh) (.حسنة وضع في األرض و ان كان صيته في السماء سيئا وضع في األرض Every slave has a title in the heavens, if the title is good, then it is placed on the earth, and if the title in the heavens is bad, then it will be placed on the earth) Agreed upon Every slave has a title in the heavens, whether it is mutaqeen, muhsineen, etc so if he has a good reputation in the heavens, then it will be placed on the earth, subhan Allah. Sometimes there are people you have never seen on earth, and you accept them immediately, and vice-versa. You especially see this between families or at work, subhan Allah. 5. Tested :(االبتالء) For example, Ibrahim (as) was tested while being thrown in the fire, sending his wife and child away from him, and the sacrifice of his son. Does this mean that Allah (swt) hated him? No, but He wanted to raise him in ranks. Allah (swt) made him the Father of the Prophets, subhan Allah. The test of Ibrahim (as) is what suits him, each test is according to their max capacity. Even knowledge, Allah (swt) will give you knowledge Page 1

according to your capacity some can take a lot, some little, according to their heart. For example, you might be in a class hearing the same words, but each person takes it differently some take it on the surface, some deeper, subhan Allah. The one who is listening might take in more than the one even speaking, subhan Allah. (Anas (May Allah be pleased with him) reported (فله السخط" ))رواه الترمذي وقال : حديث حسن(( that: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "When Allah intends good for His slave, He punishes him in this world, but when He intends an evil for His slave, He does not hasten to take him to task but calls him to account on the Day of Resurrection. - And with this (same) chain, (it was reported) from the Prophet (saws) who said: "Indeed greater reward comes with greater trial. And indeed, when Allah loves a people He subjects them to trials, so whoever is content, then for him is pleasure, and whoever is discontent, then for him is wrath" [At-Tirmidhi].) If a person is committing a sin and Allah (swt) wants the good for him, then He will punish him in the duniya, but if He wants the evil for him, then He will not hasten the punishment until the Day of Judgement. Allah (swt) will give a reward according to the greatness of the challenge the messengers had the greatest. In a day, there are many tests / challenges that s why some of the salaf said if a day passed without any test, then they would be scared because then they think their faith must be down. Don t think of a test that it has to be something so great like loss of wealth, death, etc it can be your reaction to a situation while going out, mobile phone not working, etc people will think that is a bad day, but it is a good day, these are signs of Allah s love, subhan Allah. And the more you know, the more you will get tested, so don t be scared. For example, a person in grade 1 will take a grade 1 exam, you cannot give someone in grade 12 a grade 1 exam, subhan Allah. A test is not to destroy you but to reform you. When you face a test, how should you react? Accepting. Your internet is not working, you should be accepting, and this reaction is a matter of seconds, subhan Allah. And when you accept, Allah (swt) will give you the acceptance and the ability to handle it, but if you do not accept, then you will see you will be at unease. Death upon righteous good deed اذا اراد هللا بعبد خيرا عس له: قالوا يا رسول هللا و ما عس له قال: يفتح له عمال صالحا بين يدي موته ( Hadith: o him: (If Allah (swt) wants the good for a person, He sweetens (.حتى يرضى عنه من حوله They said, O Messenger of Allah (pbuh) and what is to be sweetened? He said: Allah (swt) will open for him righteous good deeds before his death and those around him will be pleased with him) نإ" Page 2

When Allah (swt) wants good for a person, He will open gates of good, but when? Before death, it is not necessarily immediately before death, but it could be 10 years, 5 years, 1 yr, 1 day. And he will not die until every person around him is pleased with him no one has anything against him, subhan Allah. So this person dies a good end, and this is a sign of Allah s love. We ask Allah (swt) for the good end. Ameen. 7. Safety from the hellfire الرقبة من النار) :(عتق When Allah (swt) loves someone, He will never put him in the hellfire, subhan Allah. في الن ا ر فقال رسو ل هللا صل ى هللا علي ه وسل م ال وهللا ال ي لق ي هللا حبيبه في النا ر o :أنس بن مالكالمحدث:األلباني - المصدر:السلسلة الصحيحة (الراوي (The Prophet (pbuh) passed by some people and a little boy was in the street so when his mother saw him fearing an animal might snatch him she ran to him, saying my son, my son, so she took her son. So the people said to the Prophet (pbuh) do you think this mother would place throw her son in the hellfire, he said no, and by Allah, Allah would not place His beloved in the hellfire). 8. Protection from the enemy, they will not reach him من أعدائك فال يصلوا اليك) :(حفظك the enemies can try, but they will not harm you by words, writing, etc. وما تقرب ( Hadith: o إلي عبدي بشيء أحب إلي مما افترضت عليه وما يزال عبدي يتقرب إلي بالنوافل حتى أحبه فإذا أحببته كنت سمعه الذي يسمع به وبصره الذي يبصر به ويده التي يبطش بها ورجله التي يمشي بها وإن سألني أعطيته reported: (Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) ("ولئن استعاذني ألعيذنه Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "Allah the Exalted has said: 'I will declare war against him who shows hostility to a pious worshipper of Mine. And the most beloved thing with which My slave comes nearer to Me is what I have enjoined upon him; and My slave keeps on coming closer to Me through performing Nawafil (prayer or doing extra deeds besides what is obligatory) till I love him. When I love him I become his hearing with which he hears, his seeing with which he sees, his hand with which he strikes, and his leg with which he walks; and if he asks (something) from Me, I give him, and if he asks My Protection (refuge), I protect him".) Al Bukhari Book 1, Hadith 95 Sometimes a person might be plotting behind your back and Allah (swt) will protect you from this. Ibn Al Qayyim said real success (tawfeeq) is that Allah (swt) will not leave you to depend on yourself, subhan Allah. When you depend and rely on yourself, you will fail 100%, subhan Allah. It is a disappointment when you rely on yourself, so what do you need to do? You need to rely on Allah (swt). 9. Allah (swt) will grant you more faith هللا االيمان) :(رزقك Allah (swt) already loves the believer, but He will give him more faith in order to draw closer to Him. The higher the faith, the higher the elevation. نإ" Page 3

Allah Almighty bestows wealth on those He loves and those He does not love. He only gives faith to those He loves. Whoever is stingy about spending his wealth and fears to fight the enemy and is in terror of enduring the night should repeat frequently. 'There is no god but Allah. Glory صحيح موقوف في حكم المرفوع - greater.") be to Allah. Praise be to Allah, and Allah is () األلباني Allah (swt) distributed your provision just as He distributed your good manners, so this means that good manners are a provision from Allah (swt). For example, you might be patient, or forebearing these are all provisions from Allah (swt). And sometimes you have those without manners, so what do you do? You just accept whatever is given to you because that is what they have, it is upon themselves to reform, subhan Allah. Allah (swt) will give wealth to those whom He loves and doesn t love, but He gives the faith only to those whom He loves, why? Because faith is a very precious gift that will take you to paradise, subhan Allah. And He will give them supplies of faith because faith can go up and down. When you love someone, you give them special gifts, subhan Allah. If a believer is finding it difficult to spend or to face any enemy, or cannot establish the night, then what should he do? He should increase in the,(ال إ ل ه إ ال هللا و س بحا ن هللا و الحم د ل ل و هللا أكب ر ( say remembrance of Allah (swt), to subhan Allah. (كيف يحب العبد هللا ) (swt)? Ayat in the Quran How the slave will love Allah و م ن ٱلن ا س من يت خ ذ م ن د و ن ٱ ل ل أنداد ا ي ح بونہ م كح ب ٱ ل ل و ٱل ذ ين ءامن و ا أشد ح ب ا ل ل و لو يرى ٱل ذ ي ن ( :165 Surah Al Baqarah worship) (And of mankind are some who take (for (ظلم و ا إ ذ يرون ٱل عذا ب أ ن ٱل ق و ة ل ل ج م يع ا و أ ن ٱ ل ل ش دي د ٱل عذا ب others besides Allâh as rivals (to Allâh). They love them as they love Allâh. But those who believe, love Allâh more (than anything else). If only, those who do wrong could see, when they will see the torment, that all power belongs to Allâh and that Allâh is Severe in punishment) o Those who take rivals besides Allah (swt) which can be angels, messengers, righteous people, etc what are they doing? They are loving them, so this is shirk of love. o Love is beautiful but dangerous, because you can love someone more than you should and this can lead to shirk, subhan Allah. How? When you love them as you love Allah (swt), how? It means your life revolves around them. For example, you might love for the sake of Allah (swt), but then it can become shirk, you are concerned if they are happy or not, etc o There has to be boundaries for the love for the sake of Allah (swt), it cannot be infinite. Page 4

o What is the description of the believer s love for Allah (swt)? They love Allah (swt) more. Anyone who loves the duniya will never have enough of it because it is imperfect, and he will just want more and feel restless about it. You will be at rest and satisfied when you love Allah (swt) so much. You do not have to worry when you love Allah (swt) so much because the more you love Him, the more He will love you. But with others, for example, if you show them so much love, they are driven away. For example, with some husbands, if you show them so much affection, then they distance themselves, subhan Allah. But the love of Allah (swt) is eternal and continuous. o What does Their love is intense, why? Because they love the One Whom deserves it, Allah (swt) created your heart to love Him, subhan Allah. That is why the heart is the place of love and magnification of Allah (swt). Some people will say if I have the love of that person, then that is enough for me. And to Allah (swt) is the best example, for the believer, when he loves Allah (swt), then it will be enough for him he will not be lacking in love. Surah Al Imran :31 ( إ ن ك نت م ت ح بو ن ٱ ل ل فٱت ب ع ون ى ي حب بك م ٱ ل ل و يغف ر لك م ذ ن وبك م و ٱ ل ل غف و ر ر ح ي م (ق ل (Say O) Muhammad SAW to mankind): "If you (really) love Allâh then follow me (i.e. accept Islâmic Monotheism, follow the Qur'ân and the Sunnah), Allâh will love you and forgive you your sins. And Allâh is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.") o This is called the ayah of love ( المحبة (آية and the test of your love. For example, if someone says I love you, you will put them to a test. It is easy to claim that you love Allah (swt), but Allah (swt) will not leave you to prove yourself. And alhamdulliah the Quran tells us what is the proof of our love for Allah (swt). If you love Allah (swt), then you need to follow the sunnah of the Prophet (pbuh). o This ayah shows us don t claim, but you need to be truthful. Imagine someone says I love you but the actions don t show human beings don t accept it and say you are cheating. And we are not talking about human to human here, but slave to Master, subhan Allah. o The proof of your love is to follow the sunnah of the Prophet (pbuh), don t judge with your mind. For example, there are people who say they love of Allah (swt), but they don t take the hadith, subhan Allah. Allah (swt) chose this sign for His love to follow the sunnah of the Prophet (pbuh) so don t underestimate the adkhaar, sleeping on the right, eating, etc, subhan Allah. o And when you follow the sunnah because you love Allah (swt), then Allah (swt) will love you and forgive you your sins. Summary How does Allah (swt) So how does Allah (swt) show love? These are signs: (حسن التدبير لعبده ( matters 1. Taking care of all of your
