Every year brings new changes/resolutions, and at St. Rose of Lima we have seen many needed changes occur in 2018. Even more exciting changes are coming your way in 2019 as we strive to be a growing parish serving our community: We have converted to a new parishioner database, called ParishSoft. In order to save money for the parish, and for better service we have changed our envelope company. Effective with the March envelopes, you will see a new envelope design and a new envelope number for your family. In the coming days and weeks, office staff/volunteers will be contacting your families to confirm address, phone numbers, email addresses and members within the household. Our previous database consisted of inaccurate information for many households. Please be patient with the changes and feel free to contact us with your updates, or place a note in the collection basket with your updated family information. This year, we encourage you to make a New Year s resolution that will make a difference for St. Rose of Lima by committing to consistent giving. To facilitate this, we have also changed our online giving company from My EOffering to ParishSoft Giving. There will be a new button on our website that will allow you to make a parish donation or payments for various events. This is a convenient and safe way to make a one-time or recurring donation. There will also be the option for contributions to the parish through the mobile app or by a text. The Legion of Mary representatives will start the Peregrinatio Pro Christo (PPC) Journey for Christ visitations from February 16th - 28th. This outreach is intended to draw people closer to Christ and to build His Church community. Representatives will visit parishioners to deliver a message of spiritual love, community spirit, and care from the pastor and parishioners. FORMED is an online subscription service we purchased through the Augustine Institute that offers access to thousands of videos, audio talks, movies, study programs and ebooks. Please watch for more information in the upcoming bulletins for directions on how to access this information. Many people have been involved in delivering these initiatives to the parish community. We give thanks for the many parishioners who have given generously of their time, talent and treasure in making our parish a faith-filled community. Thank you for helping us along this journey.
Page 4 ST. ROSE OF LIMA PARISH February 10, 2019 GOD S SUMMONS Confronted with God s power and majesty, the first response of the prophet Isaiah was to acknowledge his sinfulness. Woe is me, I am doomed! For I am a man of unclean lips, he said aloud. Likewise, with his empty fishing nets dramatically filled at Jesus instruction, Peter fell to his knees and cried out, Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man. Next, Peter got up. He docked his boats then left to follow Jesus. Isaiah also had a dramatic change of heart. When he heard the Lord say, Whom shall I send? Who will go for us? Isaiah answered, Here I am, send me. We are summoned daily by the Risen Lord. We are reminded of the saving power of the gospel and know in our heart of hearts that, as St. Paul wrote, believing in anything else won t lead to anything. What will it take for you to move past your sinfulness? What will it take for you to get off your knees? What will it take for you to bring to dock what is unimportant and to accept your call to be God s messenger? ARE YOU SEEKING SPIRITUAL GUIDANCE OR DIRECTION? Within each of us lies the desire to find meaning beyond the moment to discover our true selves to grow closer to God. Spiritual direction is a graced way to explore that deeper connection with God by reflecting deeply on your everyday experiences in the light of Scripture and prayer. This ministry is not about problem-solving or therapy, and not about being directed. Rather, it is a shared journey of encouragement to grow in relationship with God, self, others and creation. ROSE OF LIMA PARISH February 10, 2019 PEREGRINATIO PRO CHRISTO (JOURNEY FOR CHRIST) The Legion of Mary Ministry of St. Rose of Lima Parish is preparing for a heroic labor of door-to-door home visitation. Formally known as Journey for Christ, Peregrinatio pro Christo (PPC), these visits will occur from February 16 through 28. Our entire Parish area, including that of former St. Vincent de Paul Parish will be covered. Although these Parishes merged several years ago, the St. Vincent membership records and its cultural and religious composition are incomplete. Legionaries from local and out of town areas will assist in introducing the St. Rose community to all households residing in this expanded parish territory. These visitations are a form of evangelization to introduce or restore many to the Catholic faith, strengthen appreciation for the gift of faith, and console those undergoing trials by sharing the hope and love of our faith. Fr. George has requested the entire parish membership information be updated, so the community of faith represented by St. Rose of Lima Parish is made well-known to all residing in its geographical area. Please keep this endeavor in your daily prayers; for its successful completion and for the safety of all making these visits. MASS INTENTIONS Would you like to pray for a loved one who has died? Would you like a special way to thank God for his blessings? Is there a living person for whom you would like to pray? You can do all this by having them remembered at a daily or Sunday Mass. The layers of these 18" x 18" quilted squares are tied together and, as each knot is tied, a silent prayer is said for the recipient. To date, the Prayer Squares Ministry of St. Rose of Lima's Council of Catholic Women has created and given nearly 300 prayer squares to individuals who live locally, nationally and internationally. The DivorceCare group at St. Rose of Lima Parish meets on Mondays in the School Building @7:00 PM. We help people heal from the hurt of divorce or separation with a faith based program. Men's Emmaus Retreat February 15-17, 2019 Men of St. Rose of Lima Parish: This weekend retreat provides an opportunity for prayer and reflection.
