To this end, the Diocese is equally committed to adhering to the norms of the Code of Canon Law and to upholding the tenets of the USCCB Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People, which includes supporting victims of sexual abuse in their pursuit of emotional and spiritual well-being. As such, information regarding an allegation of sexual abuse of a minor should also be reported to the Victim Assistance Coordinator Mary Beth Pacuska at (570-862-7551) or to Diocesan officials, including the Vicar General, Monsignor Thomas M. ON BECOMING CATHOLIC Are you or someone you know interested in becoming Roman Catholic? The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, (RICA), provides a wonderful and meaningful opportunity for interested persons to learn about the faith and traditions of Catholicism, while preparing for full reception into the Church. Call Father Jim at 570-696-1144 for information and details. Due to the Holiday schedule the figures for the Commitment of Treasure and the Stewardship of Faith will be printed in next week s bulletin. TO THE PARENTS OF OUR YOUNG CHILDREN, MAY WE SUGGEST Relax! God put the wiggle in the children; don t feel you have to suppress it in God s house. All are welcome! Sit toward the front where it is easier for your little ones to see and hear what is going on at the altar. They tire of seeing the backs of other s heads. Quietly explain the parts of the Mass and actions of the priest, altar servers, choir, etc. Sing the hymns, pray and voice the responses. Children learn liturgical behavior by copying you. If you have to leave Mass with your child, feel free to do so but please come back. As Jesus said, Let the children come to me. Remember that the way we welcome children in church directly affects the way they respond to the Church, to God, and to one another. Let them know that they are at home in this house of worship. TO THE MEMBERS OF OUR PARISH The presence of children is a gift to the Church and they are a reminder that our parish is growing. Please welcome our children and give a smile of encouragement to their parents. HEALING SERVICE + ST. IGNATIUS Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at 7:00 PM Preacher: Fr. SOCIAL JUSTICE GIVING TREE St. Therese s Annual Giving Tree Project will begin this weekend as part of our Advent preparation for the true celebration of Christmas. This is an opportunity to respond to people in need, including women and children who are receiving temporary shelter at the Catherine McCauley Center in Plymouth or Ruth s Place, or the Domestic Violence Center, the McGlynn Learning Center, Luzerne County Children & Youth Services, Mercy Services after school program in South Wilkes- Barre, the homeless men of Mother Teresa s Haven, as well as local families in our parish and the Back Mountain. You are invited to choose an ornament from the tree located in the vestibule of the church. Each ornament indicates a gift or gift card to be purchased, wrapped, and tagged securely with the ornament, and returned on or before the weekend of December 9-10. (NOTE: Please read the instructions on the back of the ornament and indicate the amount on the gift card. It is NOT necessary to wrap gift cards.) Please return gifts on time. This enables the committee members to sort and deliver the gifts in a timely manner. Recall the song, Christ has no other hands but yours and help make this a blessed Christmas for both giver and receiver. Thank you.
