THE GENERATION TO COME - WHY? We will not conceal them from their children, but tell to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, and His strength and His wondrous works that He has done. Psalm 78:4 What motivates us in our ministry to children is that God wants us to tell the generation to come the mighty things He has done for us through Jesus Christ. Because we have experienced the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God, we can tell the generation to come the praises of the Lord. Since we have known His power in delivering us from our bondage, we can tell of His strength. Because we have been forgiven all our sins, and have experienced His peace, which is beyond comprehension, we can tell the generation to come about His wondrous works that He has done. The psalmist says, We will not conceal them from their children (Ps 78:4). We cannot keep this to ourselves. We have to let the next generation know the great things God has done for us in Christ. Posterity will serve Him; it will be told of the Lord to the coming generation. They will come and will declare His righteousness to a people who will be born, that He has performed it. Psalm 22:30-31 From the previous text we see that God is determined to have a people who will worship Him and serve Him in the coming generations. This is what drives our passion for ministry to parents and children. Our desire for our children at Community Bible is to come to a saving knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ and understand His glorious supremacy

and sufficiency in all things. We want them to understand the mighty work Christ has done in making us righteous before God. Our longing is that our children not only come to know this, but go beyond us in faith, knowledge, righteousness, fruitfulness, evangelistic zeal, and in commitment to world evangelism for the glory of Christ. WHEN AND WHAT? Meets at Community Bible Church on Wednesday evenings 7:00-9:00 p.m. during the school year. Besides hearing Bible lessons, the children will spend time in small groups reviewing their memory verses, and they will play and have fun at game time. We carefully plan so that the children s time will be filled with exciting and profitable activities. We have four different groups, Buzzie Bees (3-4 year olds), Red Builders (K-1st grade), Gold Warriors (2nd-3rd grade), and Knights (4th-6th grade). SPECIAL RULES (The Big TEN) PLEASE READ THESE RULES WITH YOUR CHILDREN 1. Love the LORD with all your heart! 2. Treat others the way you want to be treated! 3. Come prepared with your Bible & Memory Verse Book. 4. Obey your leaders! 5. Wear your GTC t-shirt! 6. Everyone participates in everything! 7. Stay with your group. 8. Take care of club & church property. 9. NO FOOD, NO GUM, NO TOYS (unless okayed by leader) 10. Have Fun!

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS DROP OFF: CARE is the key word for dropping off and picking up your children. The parking lot is very busy. Park in a designated parking spot and walk your children into the church and sign them in. Keep them with you! Be sure they are with their group before you leave. CHECK-IN: All parents are required to check-in their children at one of the check-in stations, and print name tags and parent/guardian receipt. PICK-UP: All children must be picked up promptly at 9 p.m. SHARP. Children will be allowed to leave their designated area only when a parent/guardian shows their receipt. Please keep your children with you all the way to the car! Children are not to run through the parking lot. This is a major safety issue and we need everyone s cooperation. ABSENCES AND MAKE-UP WORK: If a child is unable to come to GTC due to illness or emergency, he can recite the verse to a parent and the parent can initial the box in the verse book. SHOES: We will be playing games that require athletic shoes. Please do not send your child wearing flip-flops or sandals.

GTC PROGRAM SPECIFICS MEMORY VERSES: Each child is given a Memory Verse book. We memorize them together in all the children s ministries and as a church. Each week your children will be encouraged to recite the weekly passage. Parents are encouraged to memorize along with their children. On the bottom left hand corner of each page you will see a box where you can put your initials when you have reviewed the verse with your child. We understand that some children have special needs and we will make every effort to accommodate the learning capacity of each child. We are here to help them memorize God s Word. Also we will take one week a month to have a review week. Please take advantage of review weeks to cement the words of scripture into their mind and heart. If you have concerns or suggestions, please contact your child s leader. For your child to gain the most from the program, they should bring their Bible and Memory Verse Book. If the book is lost, they will be asked to purchase a new one. HANDOUTS: Some weeks children will also be given a handout highlighting the lesson. We pray that these can be used in your home to help you in your discipleship of your children. SPECIAL ACTIVITIES You won t want to miss any of these fun activities, please pick up a GTC calendar listing all events. THEME NIGHTS: Most weeks we encourage the children to participate in fun events for the evening. Themes are designated on the GTC calendar. Their team receives points if they participate! BARF NIGHTS: Bring A Real Friend Night! Invite your friends at school and in your neighborhood! Check with your child s leader. HARVEST FESTIVAL: October 31, 2018 The children may dress up (no witches, ghosts, Frankenstein, etc) for our Harvest Parade. There is a carnival for the children and a hot dog dinner. It s a great night! MISSIONS EMPHASIS WITH CASH & COIN DRIVE: In the month of February give generously to our GTC missionaries! Each year we raise over $500 to support our missionaries. INFINITY 500 & BBQ: May 1, 2019 Children and leaders make their own pinewood racing cars. We will have the competition preceded by a barbecue. Bring the family and come join the fun! You will receive special instructions as the race draws near. AWARD & APPRECIATION NIGHT: May 29, 2019 This is the last GTC meeting of the year. It is an opportunity to show appreciation to the men and women who diligently served your children all year. We also honor the children for all their hard work at hiding God s Word in their hearts. It is a great evening of fun, fellowship, and ice cream!
