Leo is a native of Veracruz, Mexico and has one sister and one brother (he is the middle child). Leo is a student at Assumption Seminary in San Antonio, Texas. He will be entering his third year this coming fall. Leo feels that the biggest issue in the church today is that people are not living Gospel values. He is particularly disturbed by abortion, believing that it is a violation of innocent lives: every human deserves to be born. Leo s special devotion is to the Blessed Virgin Mary. There will be a reception in the school following the service! St. Boniface, Bishop & Martyr On the back altar, you will see a statue of St. Boniface to your left of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. His memorial will take place on Thursday, June 5th. St. Boniface was born in Devonshire, England to a noble Saxon family & was very well -educated. Against the wishes of his family, he became a priest of the Benedictine Order and set out to convert the Saxon tribes still living in Germany. After many set-backs, Pope Gregory II gave him authority to do so. His efforts at conversion, and also at founding Benedictine monasteries, were highly successful. Eventually, he became a bishop but while confirming new Christians, Boniface was beset by pagans and was martyred by decapitation in 754 or 755. St. Boniface, Apostle of Germany, pray for us!
