Prayer of the Church Fourth Sunday in Lent 26 March 2017 O holy Lord, You have opened the eyes of Your Church to behold the light of Christ. Grant that we may always walk in His light and not return to the darkness of sin that blinds us to the truth of Your saving Gospel. Everlasting God, grant Your peace to all the nations of our world, and especially give wisdom and compassion to the leaders of our nation. Bless us also with faithful and devout citizens who will defend the weak and helpless, including the unborn and the infirm. Gracious Lord, there are many in our world and community who are in need. We pray for those who are poor, homeless or hungry among us, that You would grant them all that they need to support this body and life. Open the hearts of all who are blessed with more than they need, that they would be generous toward those in want. Heavenly Father, we pray that You would grant gainful employment to all who are able to work but cannot find jobs that meet their needs or the needs of their families. Provide for their necessities and keep them from losing heart. Blessed Lord, we pray that You would grant healing to all those who suffer from any affliction of body or soul [including ]. Shine upon them with Your mercy, according to Your good and gracious will, and continually remind them of Your love and care for them. Lord God, we thank You for feeding us in the holy Supper of Jesus body and blood. Grant that we may receive this blessed gift in repentant faith, trusting in the words of Jesus, that we may receive the benefits of forgiveness and life offered here. Strengthen our faith through this meal, and give us the will to serve our neighbors in love.
