As followers of Jesus and citizens of his kingdom, we are called to live and confess God s wisdom and truth in the face of the powers that seek to deceive and oppress us and all other people. We stand united in our identity in Christ and united in our resolve to speak the truth, renounce all lies and end the dominion of the powers in this land.
We are grateful for the many benefits we enjoy as Americans and for the good America has done. But as citizens of the kingdom, we are called to also confess the sins of our history and bring an end to their oppressive effect on our neighbors and us.
As followers of Jesus, we are called to manifest the one new humanity Jesus died to create. We renounce the sin of our ancestors who divided humanity into difference races and oppressed their neighbors on this basis.
We are called to love, serve and bless all people, even our enemies We renounce the sin our ancestors when they violently conquered the native people of America and violently enslaved the people of Africa.
We are called to practice justice and honesty in our dealings with others. We renounce the sin of our ancestors when they stole land, broke treatises and treated natives and others unjustly.
