St. Paul Lutheran Church and School Bonduel, Wisconsin January 26/27, 2019 National Lutheran Schools Week Theme: Real. Present. God. T T T Opening Hymn 816 From All That Dwell Below the Skies Opening Versicles In the name of the Father and of the T Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. O Lord, open my lips, And my mouth will declare Your praise. (Psalm 51:15) Make haste, O God, to deliver me; make haste to help me, O Lord. (Psalm 70:1) Better is one day in Your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked. (Psalm 84:10) Make me to know Your ways, O Lord. (Psalm 25:4) Teach me Your paths. Santify us in Your truth. Your Word is truth. (John 17:17) Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit; as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen. Old Testament Canticle Page 261

Old Testament Reading Exodus 3:1 6 (God speaks to Moses from within a burning bush) Now Moses was keeping the flock of his father-in-law, Jethro, the priest of Midian, and he led his flock to the west side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. 2 And the angel of the LORD appeared to him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush. He looked, and behold, the bush was burning, yet it was not consumed. 3 And Moses said, I will turn aside to see this great sight, why the bush is not burned. 4 When the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called to him out of the bush, Moses, Moses! And he said, Here I am. 5 Then he said, Do not come near; take your sandals off your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground. 6 And he said, I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look at God. This is the Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. Music Sunday Our God Is Real and Present Here Epistle Reading 1 Corinthians 15:1 11 (Christ died for our sins, was raised, and appeared for many to see) Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, 2 and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you unless you believed in vain. 3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, 5 and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. 6 Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep. 7 Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles. 8 Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me. 9 For I am the least of the apostles, unworthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them, though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me. 11 Whether then it was I or they, so we preach and so you believed. This is the Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.

The Holy Gospel John 20:19 31 (Thomas calls Jesus his Lord and his God) On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the doors being locked where the disciples were for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, Peace be with you. 20 When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. 21 Jesus said to them again, Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you. 22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 If you forgive the sins of anyone, they are forgiven; if you withhold forgiveness from anyone, it is withheld. 24 Now Thomas, one of the Twelve, called the Twin, was not with them when Jesus came. 25 So the other disciples told him, We have seen the Lord. But he said to them, Unless I see in his hands the mark of the nails, and place my finger into the mark of the nails, and place my hand into his side, I will never believe. 26 Eight days later, his disciples were inside again, and Thomas was with them. Although the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, Peace be with you. 27 Then he said to Thomas, Put your finger here, and see my hands; and put out your hand, and place it in my side. Do not disbelieve, but believe. 28 Thomas answered him, My Lord and my God! 29 Jesus said to him, Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed. 30 Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; 31 but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name. This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to You, O Christ. Prayers Almighty God, our heavenly Father, You have committed the care of and the instilling of faith in children to their parents. Thank you for Lutheran schools to assist us in this highest responsibility. Give godly wisdom to our teachers, and bless the faith and learning of our children here at St. Paul that they know what is true according to Your Word, and trust in You every day. Lord, in Your mercy, Be present now. Enter, O Lord, the homes in which Your people dwell, fill them with Your peace, guidance, and love, and keep all harm and danger far from them. Lord, in Your mercy, Be present now. We pray, O Lord, for the special needs of our family at St. Paul. For those who are sick, grant healing; to the lonely, speak through Your living Word; bless husbands and wives with love and faithfulness; grant contentment to those whose desire for marriage remains unfulfilled; lead us to work hard in our places of employment; teach us to offerings faithfully and gladly; bless our upcoming Bible classes and Evangelism workshop; meet the needs of our missionaries and give them unyielding determination. Lord, in Your mercy, Be present now. Almighty God, the truth is that in Christ You have taken the punishment of our sin and have conquered death and the devil for all believers. Use us to speak the Good News of Christ crucified and risen so that all who hear it may receive the gift of salvation; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
