Announcements What joy to gather together this All Saints Sunday! The Lutheran tradition follows the Apostle Paul s use of saint to mean the believer in Jesus as the Messiah (Christ), Savior of the World, and Lord of our Life. Through the Holy Spirit, He calls
and unites us (his saints) together in the Church. We thank the Lord for all the faithful (saints) who have lived and served before us, even as we are saints today! Today s special Worship unites us in our common focus on Stewards of the Gospel, the Mission of this Body of Christ (Saint John s Lutheran Church). This is Stewardship Sunday, not only in our worship focus, but in the Annual Stewardship Banquet that follows immediately in the Hall. (New this year is having this event at 11AM as Brunch/Lunch and not at 5PM as Dinner). We begin with a tasty brunch/lunch catered by Branch St. Deli, then a skit, song, and prayer, Guest Speaker, Rev. Dr. Paul Jones, review our Golden Jubilee Stewardship Pledge Packets for 2016, and close with song and prayer. Next Sunday, Nov. 8, is Ingathering Sunday, and all households bring their completed Plan for Giving Pledge Card Envelope and place it on the Altar in thanks to our Lord. Beginning tomorrow, Monday through Saturday, you can still sign up to attend one of the six Jubilee Home Meetings - see the poster to sign up, and see the back side of the cover letter in your Pledge Packet you will receive at the 11AM Banquet. This coming year really needs all of us to rally together in thanks for the 50-year anniversary of blessings and to begin with the new pastor the next 50 years! We will discuss the 2016 budget needs, the transition to new pastor realities, and our calling here on God s Corner. So all of you - please come to this very important home meeting!

Our children continue to rehearse for their annual Christmas pageant "Miracle on Main Street" each Sunday morning during the Sunday School hour. Rehearsals are held: Sundays November 1, 8, 15 and 22 (we're off the 29th for Thanksgiving weekend), then Sunday December 6. Saturday, December 12 from 9:00-10:30 a.m. is our dress rehearsal in the sanctuary, with the pageant on Sunday, December 13 at 10:00 a.m. It's never too late to join the fun -- all children ages 4 thru 6th grade are invited!! PLEASE! HELP THE FOOD PANTRY! - Shelves are nearing empty as donations have dipped and grocery stores are not sharing as much as before. Canned and packaged food is desperately needed for the 5 CITIES CHRISTIAN WOMEN S FOOD PANTRY. The Social Outreach Services Team is sponsoring a food drive to help the needy in our community from October 18 - November 22. Because the pantry has very little food on hand to give out to those in need, we have set a goal of 500 cans/packages of food by November 22. We ask for your help and support in this effort. Thank you in advance for your generous support. Donations may be left in the wagon located in the Commons.
Women s Ministry - Our next meeting will be on Wednesday November 11 th (Veteran s Day) at 1:00 PM. In honor of Veteran s Day, we ve arranged to have a very engaging speaker, Odell Bennett Lee who has a dynamic life story that focuses on service to our country. At 16, he joined the Navy and served on 3 Destroyer Escorts in the Pacific. After his Military Service, he finished High School, graduated with honors from UCLA and went on to do graduate work at John s Hopkins. His work in International Studies led to an offer from the CIA to serve his country once again, as one of the first African Americans in deep cover. Odell is an excellent speaker, an author and brings a very inspirational message to his audience. Women s Ministry also invites all men of St. John s to come and hear this inspirational speaker. Our speaker will be first on the agenda, followed by our business meeting. Women s Ministry Board: Rena Weiger, Jean Wilson, Jan Straka & Kay Werner Today is ALL SAINTS SUNDAY on the church calendar, our annual time to thank the Lord for many faithful who have lived, served, worshiped, and witnessed in the Church Militant (the church on earth) and have been delivered by Jesus into the Church Triumphant (the church in heaven).
