We are one year closer to the return of our Lord Jesus. As I think of it, I tremble looking at such little advancement in spreading the everlasting gospel in our mission. Are we ready for the greatest event of human history? By the guidance of the Holy Spirit, our world church leaders adopted the timely direction, Revival, Reformation, Discipleship and Evangelism in the recent Quinquennial Session at Atlanta, USA. Our Union, in the recent session, has shorten the theme, but with broader and deeper meaning in it. It is Revival, Reformation and Beyond. For 2011, we have the same theme, Revival for Mission. Christians should be preparing for what is soon to break upon the world as an overwhelming surprise, and this preparation they should make by diligently studying the word of God, and striving to conform their lives to its precepts... God calls for a revival and a reformation. Prophets and Kings, p. 626. A revival and a reformation must take place under the ministration of the Holy Spirit. Revival and reformation are two different things. Revival signifies a renewal of spiritual life, a quickening of the powers of mind and heart, a resurrection from the spiritual death. Reformation signifies reorganization, a change in ideas and theories, habits and practices. Reformation will not bring forth the good fruit of righteousness unless it is connected with the revival of the Spirit. Revival and reformation are to do their appointed work, and in doing this work they must blend. Christian Service, p. 42. The world church urges every 7 th -Day Adventist prays 7 days a week at 7 o clock in the morning and/or evening (777 Prayer) for the Latter Rain. We would like to see the phenomenon occurred in the apostolic time to happen again soon. When the Latter Rain poured on us as we seek for it earnestly, baptism will multiply instead of being like our current baptism goal set at a few hundred souls a year. The Early Rain turned Jerusalem upside down, the Latter Rain will turn the world upside down, including Malaysia. When we are revived and reformed, we will move forward to become disciples of Jesus Christ and will put evangelism as the only purpose in our life. I am looking forward to see every church member begin the 777 Prayer by Jan 1, 2011, with fast-and-prayer on that day. May God bless us richly so that we can meet our Lord Jesus face to face soon. ~ PEM President s Message & Good News from PEM Churches ~ 2010 2011 - - 626 - - 42 7 7 / 7 777 KIDS CERTIFICATION PROGRAMME ON NOV 20 SHARED BY CINDY KUAN, CHILDREN MINISTRY DIRECTOR OF PENANG ENGLISH CHURCH: Kid in Discipleship for parents and mentor was launched from Oct 31, 2009, to Jan 2010. It was met with much enthusiasm from the parents from the very beginning. During the course of the programme, we met challenges as to where the programme was to be held, but as a group, we still made it till the end of the 12 lessons. Through the kid inventory that was done at the beginning of the lesson, and at the completion of the lesson, it was concluded that almost all the parents expressed that they felt confident being a mentor and leading out their children into useful servants for God. Kid for children started from Mar 13 to Nov 6, 2010, with a total of 24 lessons. This was double the challenge and more commitment from the parents and the children was required. The children enjoyed the lessons, especially on the activities and bridging sessions. Children asked questions about What is Heaven Like? We also did the Footprints for Kids participants survey and the participants felt that what they liked best about Footprints for Kids was that it was simple to follow. Kid programme was done with much prayer and we depended on the Holy Spirit for inspiration. Praise God for leading us in conducting the programmes successfully. 2011 1 1 777! CHRISTMAS PROGRAMME SHARED BY JENNIFER DEVADAS: Praise the LORD! The Shah Alam Indian Church Children's class teachers, Annamah and I, organized a Christmas programme for the children on Dec 4 after the divine service. Next morning, on Sunday, the members distributed tracts at the Shah Alam territory. We thank the members who participated in the programme. ~ Good News from PEM Churches ~ FAST FOR SUCH A TIME SHARED BY ART CHEW (CENTER): Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? And in thy name have cast out devils? And in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Matt 7:21-23. The above 3 profound verses in the Bible usually Why? Because too often, when somebody gets baptized, the church assumes a leadership role or completing tasks in church as the spiritual level of the person. If I lead song service, if I tell mission story, or perhaps even teach Sabbath School, the church would see me as a spiritual person. However, these 3 verses contradict this assumption the church has been making. It is not leading song service, nor telling the mission story, or even leading a choir. It is not holding positions such as pastors or elders. It is developing a relationship with God. It is growing closer to Him day by day. FAST is not a miracle making tract; but merely a tool. A tool is only effective when there is commitment placed into using it. Disciples are chosen to the criteria according to the acronym FAST (Faithful, Available, Spiritual, Teachable). The Discipleship Module in FAST is divided into 3 parts: i. Survival kit: (5 weeks) GOAL: Memorize 5 verses word perfect Memorize 10 keys to help memorize verses ii. iii. Basic Training: Christian Habits (5 weeks) GOAL: To develop Christian habits (Morning watch, prayer journal, personal testimony, etc) Memorize 18 verses word perfect Team Tactics: CARE Groups GOAL: To implant the vision of CARE groups (evangelism) Memorize 18 verses word perfect 9 Bible searches (Observation, Principle, Application) Damansara Adventist Hope Centre has been running FAST since 2009. The first group has taken up the challenge since Jun 2009 and we have finished the 3 modules on Nov 13, 2010 (lots of commitment). However, discipleship takes time, Jesus took 3 years to train His disciples. Paul took 2 years off to train a church. We cannot just train people to be Bible based in just a month or two. Training = commitment. 2 Timothy 2:2. And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. The Bible says, that the things we have learnt, we have to pass them down to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. The first batch of FAST graduates would be able to commit these things to other faithful men and it shall go on and on. When there is a proper sy The end product of FAST, is to have committed Bible based leaders who would lead CARE groups and win souls for Christ till Christ return. Jesus is coming soon. And the work of multiplication should begin. Again, I would like to reiterate, FAST is just a tool. However, if much commitment is placed into such (eg. Not another Sabbath School Lesson where people do not prepare), in due season, ye shall reap! Vision 4 Apply your heart to instruction and your ears to words of knowledge. Proverbs 23:12, NIV.

~ Good News from PEM Churches ~ D BY DR CHEW YU GEE: The Lighthouse envisions to obey the Great Commandment (Matt 22:37-40) and the Great Commission (Matt 28:19-20) of Jesus to grow a Great Church. This time, we welcome two beautiful people, Beng Hooi and Brenda, into the fellowship of this 53th Adventist Church of the Peninsular Malaysia Mission, and into the big 16 million members family of the Worldwide church. This is the 4 th of the 5 th baptismal service for this year. Can our church be a temple for worship, a family for fellowship, a refuge for ministry, a school for discipleship and a mission field for evangelism? We pray that the year 2011 will be a year for the exponential growth of the Lighthouse to reach its goal of 20 Care Groups and a membership of 200. We pray that our church will grow in terms of maturity where there will be participants instead of spectators, where habits of discipleship like quiet HEALTH TEAM (MEDICAL AND DENTAL) SERVES THE ORANG ASLI COMMUNITY IN KG SUNGAI MAHANG, NILAI, SHARED BY MRS JANE YAP: On Oct 10, a group of 12 volunteers consisting of Medical Doctors, a Dentist, Medical Missionaries and volunteers, spent 2 days giving cheer among the Orang Asli Community in Seremban and Nilai respectively. Jointly organized by the Adventist Community Health Centre and Seremban Adventist Church, the volunteers spent the night in the hillside of Nilai, among the Orang Asli community. Both medical and dental services were provided for the community with free medications, as well as give-away toys, soaps, and toothpaste for everyone! It was indeed a humbling experience to serve the community, to sleep in the tent, bathe in the waterfall, eat with the Orang Asli and enjoy their company! Thanks to Bro Minsun and his team from Seremban for coordinating with this programme, to Dr Daniel Yeoh and Dr Peter Loh of the Penang Adventist Hospital and to all the volunteers, for making this event a memorable one. ~ Good news from PEM Churches ~ BAPTISM SHARED BY JENNIFER DEVADAS: Praise the LORD, Nov 20, was one of the happiest occasions for the Shah Alam Indian Church. Two precious souls joined our church. They were baptized by Pr James Edward at the baptismal pool of Petaling Jaya English Church. ADVENTIST COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTRE KLANG BRANCH (ACC-KLANG) -HYPERTENSION PROJECT SHARED BY MRS JANE YAP: Oct 3, after 6 months of hard work by the Medical Missionaries in Pandamaran, Klang, doing a joint project with Malaysia Health Promotion Board on Lifestyle Change Prevention against Hypertension, it finally concluded into a full day Community Health Expo at Pandamaran Jaya Community Hall. With services like Health Screening, Eye Screening, Hypertension Screening, Cooking, Exercise and Hydrotherapy demonstrations; volunteers from different Adventist churches in the Klang Valley committed their Sunday into providing service for the community. A total of almost 100 people were served during that day. Special thanks to Malaysia Health Promotion Board for their financial contribution into making this project a success, to Pandamaran Jaya Council for allowing us to use their premise for free, to all the Petaling Jaya English Church volunteers led by Mrs Marcia Rajakumar, Klang BM and Pandamaran volunteers led by Pr Rubil and the ACC-Klang MMV team and volunteers (picture above) praise to God indeed for being able to serve His people! NEWS SNIPPETS FROM THE SOUTH SHARED BY PR SAMUEL MONEY: On Nov 10, two souls were baptized at the Megah Ria Church at 9pm. Two days later, on Nov 12, another three people were baptized in the JB Church. Of these, two were from the Tamil Church and one from the Bahasa Church. A fellowship dinner was also held in the JB Church before the baptisms. ~Good News from PEM Churches ~ On Nov 14, a farewell lunch was held for me at the Green Feel Restaurant, Permas Jaya, Johor Bahru, by the JB English Church members. It was also held in conjunction with my 60 th birthday, and also to welcome the incoming pastor, Pr Renie Ubara, who will begin work in the JB English Church on Jan 1, 2011. About 50 people, including children from the JB English Church attended the farewell lunch. There was a course of 10 vegetarian dishes served during the farewell lunch. On behalf of the JB English Church, Head Elder Robert Lee, presented a branded fountain pen to me as a farewell gift. I then rendered a song entitled, and gave a five minute speech to thank the church members who organized the event. TRAINING FOR MYANMAR MEMBERS SHARED BY MRS LEONG FAI (LEFT): On Sep 16, twelve ladies gathered at the PEM Conference Hall to learn how to sew and other handicrafts taught by myself. We thank Mdm Goh Cheng Siew for helping to arrange transport for these members. On Nov 27, a Pathfinder Investiture Service was held in the JB English Church. Club members who completed their classes we given the respective pins by Pr James Edward. PUPPETS MAKING SHARED BY MRS LEONG FAI: On Sep 26, Mrs Sim Siew Moi, Union Children Ministry Director, came to teach puppet making to 35 Children Ministry leaders of various churches at the Petaling Jaya Chinese Church from 9am to 4pm. TRAINING FOR ORANG ASLI SHARED BY MRS LEONG FAI: On Sep 9, together with Pr Leong Fai, Pr and Mrs Minsun, Ms Julita Kitang, we went to the Orang Asli programme. We taught the children songs and balloon sculptures; for the mothers, we taught them how to make purses. We told Bible stories and also gave the children books and CDs. sponsoring this programme. ~ Good News from PEM Churches ~ IPOH BREAKTHROUGH YOUTH MOTIVATION WORKSHOP SHARED BY PR TAN WEOI SIONG (SEATED, 5 TH FROM LEFT): This was the theme song of Breakthrough Youth Motivation Workshop, organized by Pr Lee Yow Han (seated, 2 nd from left) and myself. This workshop held on Sep 6 was sponsored by the Living Spring Wellness Centre. It was intended for teenagers and young adults. About 20 youth registered and attended this one-day programme. In the morning motivational talk. He told the youth that they are created in the image of God and thus they are valuable in His sight. He also encouraged them in making plans for their lives, which included family, study, career and spirituality. At noon, an organic vegetarian lunch was served, it was prepared by Mrs Liew, the owner of Living Spring Wellness Centre, Tabby Andrews and Catherine Khoo, medical missionaries currently stationed in Ipoh. After lunch, I presented a motivational talk about life management how to simplify life and be effective by starting to organize which include our studies and career. I also stressed on the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle, which is one of the most important prerequisites to a successful life. There was also a health check-up for the youth later on in the programme. Some of the youth commented that they had learned useful lessons during the workshop. They were encouraged by the message, especially those who are going to sit for SPM. They were truly motivated to live their lives to the fullest potential! Gua Tempurung Outing The next day, Sep 7, together with Pr Andrew Hau from Ipoh Chinese Church, we brought the youth to Gua Tempurung, a cave with spectacular stalactites and stalagmites. The group arrived at the cave at about 8:30am. It took them almost four hours to complete the 2.4 km navigation. After about 230 steps, there were no more stairways, they had to explore the cave in darkness by using torch lights. They had to totter through the chilly underground river, crawl through holes and slide down slippery stones, before they could get out of the cave. There was a continuous bout of shouts and laughter. Lunch was finished quickly after that as they were very hungry. We thank Saily Chin for preparing the food. The outing helped the young people to appreciate God and His creations. varieties of shapes and colour. They were also glad to be healthy and were able to complete the strenuous exploration. ~ Good News from PEM Churches ~ KULIM YOUTH BREAKTHROUGH MOTIVATION WORKSHOP SHARED BY PR LEE YOW HAN: Youth Breakthrough Motivation Workshop is a programme that i and start believing that what they want to achieve in life is possible. Through the words of God they will experience breakthrough in their lives and they are able to throw away their old self image and let God restore His image in their lives. This programme incorporates music, audience interaction and detailed instructions on how to create a plan for achieving any goal in work, school and life. After Ipoh Breakthrough Motivation Workshop, on Sep 8 morning, Kulim Church was filled with youth spirits. 32 young people came to join the programme, 80% of them were non-christians and some of them came to church for the first time. The programme started with lively praise and worship led by the well-trained Kulim Imago Dei Worship team. There were 3 main sections on the first day. The speaker for the first and second sections was myself, this section was regarding the self discovery. I started the topic by illustration, I indirectly brought them to think of this important question in life. Then, I used the word of God to show them they are the children of God and they inherit the DNA of God, which is creativeness, power and love, and God wants to restore His image to everyone in the world. At the end of the first section, I made an alter call to ask them to allow Jesus to enter their lives and restore His image in them. By the touch of the Holy Spirit, all of the young people raised their hands to accept Jesus and wanted Him to restore His image in their lives. In the second section, I thought the young people how to make a SMARTER Plan. If they can plan for their lives, they will be successful in their lives. The third and final section for the day was shared by Pr Tan Weoi Siong. He was sharing some practical and useful life principles with the young people. The next day, Sep 9, was the practical section of the workshop. The youth climbed Mount Tokun. Through this activity, they learnt to think positively, to become a good team leader and how to control their will power. All the young people enjoyed this programme very much and their lives had been changed. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. Matthew 5:8, NIV. Vision 9

~ Good News from PEM Churches ~ ANNUAL GARAGE SALE, FOOD FAIR, BLOOD DRIVE AND CAR WASH SHARED BY ELDER MARCIA RAJAKUMAR, HEAD OF HEALTH DEPARTMENT OF PETALING JAYA (PJ) ENGLISH CHURCH: On Aug 1, the PJ English Church Health Department collaborated with the Community Service, Pathfinders, Adventurers and Youth Department, organized the above mentioned activities. The Pathfinders came in full force and participated by opening more than ten stalls, selling various food items. The games counter drew a lot of fun and laughter even the old felt young again. The Lions Club took this opportunity to plant several fruit trees around the church compound. The Blood Drive, organized by the Community Service, managed to obtain close to 30 donors. All funds raised that day were for the church activities. A church that prays and plays together, grows together. HEALTH OUTREACH SHARED BY ELDER MARCIA RAJAKUMAR: The Adventist Community Health Centre (ACC) PJ Branch, with the assistance of ACC KL, organized a Health Outreach Programme called the Smartkid Health Programme from Sep 5-7 during the school holidays at Tadika Mesra Alecia. It was a successful health programme for 28 children. The children ages range from 3 to 12 years old, and they were grouped into 5 different groups. They learnt about NEWSTART: nutrition, exercise, water, sunshine, temperance, air, rest and trust in God in a fun manner. A cooking demonstration on bread and pizza making was also conducted. This Smartkid NEWSTART Programme designed by Mrs Jane Yap, was specially tailored for young children in which parents also had the chance to participate. PUPPET AND PUPPETRY TALK SHARED BY MASTER GUIDE MARCIA RAJAKUMAR: The PJ English Church Pathfinder Club organized a Puppet and Puppetry Talk on Sep 25. Mrs Sim Sew Moi showed the Pathfinders the basic techniques of puppetry. After that, she grouped the Pathfinders into 3 different groups for an instant puppet show. All participants were fast learners and they exercised their skills to produce an excellent show through songs and movement following their own individual scripts. The next day, Sew Moi had a workshop and taught us how to make puppets. There was so much creativity and joy in learning to make puppets. During the Pathfinder Day on Oct 2, the Pathfinders used the puppets they elling time for a special presentation. Vision 10 IPOH HEALTH EXPO 2010 SHARED BY TABBY ANDREWS: On Sep 26, the Ipoh Chinese Church and Living Spring Wellness Centre, together with the Health Promoters, organized a Health Expo was held at Living Spring Wellness Centre. We invited Dr Steve Kuan from Penang to be the officiator for this event. There were 68 clients who came. Out of these 68 clients, there were and about 50 plus people were non- Adventists. There were different booths which consisted of BMI, Body Water, Blood Pressure, Glucose, Bone Density, Eye Screening, computer results, Physiotherapy and counselling. This was a successful event. HISTORY OF THE JB PATHFINDER CLUB SHARED BY PR SAMUEL MONEY (RIGHT PICTURE, SEATED BOTTOM LEFT): The JB Church was officially organized in 1956 with 13 charter members who were mostly adults. Ten years later in 1966, the JB Church building was dedica About that time, there were capable helpers from Singapore who went to assist in the youth work. The group included Pr SF Chu, Wong Kum Meng and Earl Anchant. Earl who was an active Master Guide, organized the Missionary Volunteer (MV) Society with the handful of young people. Since then, the youth began to be actively involved in church. ~ Good News from PEM Churches ~ Much of the activities were not recorded on paper. However, some of the old photographs taken at that time showed the young people wearing the Pathfinder uniform and conducting their drills in the JB Church compound. Some of the Pathfinder members today are in the Ulu Tiram Church, some have migrated to USA and Australia, and some are in Kuala Lumpur. All these years, since 1966, the Pathfinder Club in JB have had irregular meetings. Unlike many other city churches, the JB Church was not an institution based church, and also, the youth of the church are constantly seeking for higher education or employment elsewhere. Occasionally, the club ceased to function due to young people leaving JB to further their studies elsewhere, or due to school examinations. Nevertheless, through the years, the Club has survived until today. Recently, Mrs Mable Ngui and her assistant, Ms Yan Siew Giang, from Singapore, have brought revival to the Club. Their faithfulness, consistent encouragement and support have kept the Club active. As of today, the Pathfinder Club has about 20 members, made up of young and old, led by Mr Timon Tan, the ctor. We hope to see it continue to develop into a strong force of young people in this family based church. ~ Good News from PEM Churches ~ CHILDREN PROGRAMME SHARED BY JENNIFER DEVADAS: On Oct 2, the Shah Alam Indian Church Sabbath School Children's Class teachers Annamah, Sumathi and Jennifer, organized a special programme for the children after divine service. The programme included colouring, memory verses and Bible story telling. The children were also presented with gifts. FELLOWSHIP CAMP SHARED BY PR SAM GOVINDASAMY: On Sep 11 and 12, the Banting Church had a church fellowship camp in Port Dickson. SHARED BY PR SAM GOVINDASAMY: Bukit Jelutong Youth dedicated time and talent to carry out weekly missionary work in the community. SHARED BY PR SAM GOVINDASAMY: Together with Mr Vincent George, we gave anti-smoking lecture to 57 students at the Convent School in Klang. ~ Good News from PEM Churches & Adventist World News ~ A group of nearly 200 volunteers working with Maranatha Volunteers International recently completed buildings for two elementary schools and several One-Day Churches in Livingstone, Zambia. The new schools will hold 350 students, and each of the One-Day Churches will support an area of the nation that has a quickly growing membership. The project is part of a large-scale church building project in the southeast African country. The organization plans to build 50 One-Day Churches in Zambia. Maranatha, a supporting ministry of the Adventist Church, developed the One-Day programme to quickly construct durable houses of worship in a matter of hours. The church kits consist of pre-packaged galvanized steel components. After Marantha volunteers complete a church, the walls and floor are finished by local members according to custom and availability of materials.church membership has doubled in Zambia over the past two years. More than 600,000 members worship throughout the country, with nearly 20,000 of them living in the capital city region of Livingstone. Out of the 6,000 congregations in Zambia, only 2,000 have a church home. Most members do not have a physical church to worship in or a Christian school for their children to attend. The Second Coming of Christ: The second coming of Christ is the blessed hope of the church, the grand climax of the gospel. The Saviour's coming will be literal, personal, visible, and worldwide. When He returns, the righteous dead will be resurrected, and together with the righteous living will be glorified and taken to heaven, but the unrighteous will die. The almost complete fulfillment of most lines of prophecy, together with the present condition of the world, indicates that Christ's coming is imminent. The time of that event has not been revealed, and we are therefore exhorted to be ready at all times. Death and Resurrection: The wages of sin is death. But God, who alone is immortal, will grant eternal life to His redeemed. Until that day death is an unconscious state for all people. When Christ, who is our life, appears, the resurrected righteous and the living righteous will be glorified and caught up to meet their Lord. The second resurrection, the resurrection of the unrighteous, will take place a thousand years later. The Millennium and the End of Sin: The millennium is the thousand-year reign of Christ with His saints in heaven between the first and second resurrections. During this time the wicked dead will be judged; the earth will be utterly desolate, without living human inhabitants, but occupied by Satan and his angels. At its close Christ with His saints and the Holy City will descend from heaven to earth. The unrighteous dead will then be resurrected, and with Satan and his angels will surround the city; but fire from God will consume them and cleanse the earth. The universe will thus be freed of sin and sinners forever. (Rev. 20; 1 Cor. 6:2, 3; Jer. 4:23-26; Rev. 21:1-5; Mal. 4:1; Eze. 28:18, 19.) 28. The New Earth: On the new earth, in which righteousness dwells, God will provide an eternal home for the redeemed and a perfect environment for everlasting life, love, joy, and learning in His presence. For here God Himself will dwell with His people, and suffering and death will have passed away. The great controversy will be ended, and sin will be no more.
