First Reading Acts 5:12-16 A reading from the Acts of the Apostles The faithful all used to meet by common consent in the Portico of Solomon. No one else ever dared to join them, but the people were loud in their praise and the numbers of men and women who came to believe in the Lord increased steadily. So many signs and wonders were worked among the people at the hands of the apostles that the sick were even taken out into the streets and laid on beds and sleeping-mats in the hope that at least the shadow of Peter might fall across some of them as he went past. People even came crowding in from the towns round about Jerusalem, bringing with them their sick and those tormented by unclean spirits, and all of them were cured. This is the word of the Lord. Responsorial Psalm Ps 117:2-4. 22-27. R. v.1 (R.) Give thanks to the Lord for he is good, his love is everlasting. 1. Let the sons of Israel say: His love has no end. Let the sons of Aaron say: His love has no end. Let those who fear the Lord say: His love has no end. (R.) 2. The stone which the builders rejected has become the corner stone. This is the work of the Lord, a marvel in our eyes. This day was made by the Lord; we rejoice and are glad. (R.) 3. O Lord, grant us salvation; O Lord grant success. Blessed in the name of the Lord is he who comes. We bless you from the house of the Lord; the true God is our light. (R.) Second Reading Rv 1:9-13, 17-19 A reading from the book of the Apocalypse My name is John, and through our union in Jesus I am your brother and share your sufferings, your kingdom, and all you endure. I was on the island of Patmos for having preached God s word and witnessed for Jesus; it was the Lord s day and the Spirit possessed me, and I heard a voice behind me, shouting like a trumpet, Write down all that you see in a book. I turned round to see who had spoken to me, and when I turned I saw seven golden lampstands and, surrounded by them, a figure like a Son of man, dressed in a long robe tied at the waist with a golden girdle. When I saw him, I fell in a dead faint at his feet, but he touched me with his right hand and said, Do not be afraid; it is I, the First and the Last; I am the Living One. I was dead and now I am to live for ever and ever, and I hold the keys of death and of the underworld. Now write down all that you see of present happenings and things that are still to come. This is the word of the Lord.

Gospel Acclamation Jn 20:29 Alleluia, alleluia! You believe in me, Thomas, because you have seen me; happy those who have not seen me, but still believe! Alleluia! Gospel Jn 20:19-31 A reading from the holy Gospel according to John In the evening of that same day, the first day of the week, the doors were closed in the room where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews. Jesus came and stood among them. He said to them, Peace be with you, and showed them his hands and his side. The disciples were filled with joy when they saw the Lord, and he said to them again, Peace be with you. As the Father sent me, so am I sending you. After saying this he breathed on them and said: Receive the Holy Spirit. For those whose sins you forgive, they are forgiven; for those whose sins you retain, they are retained. Thomas, called the Twin, who was one of the Twelve, was not with them when Jesus came. When the disciples said, We have seen the Lord, he answered, Unless I see the holes that the nails made in his hands and can put my finger into the holes they made, and unless I can put my hand into his side, I refuse to believe. Eight days later the disciples were in the house again and Thomas was with them. The doors were closed, but Jesus came in and stood among them. Peace be with you he said. Then he spoke to Thomas, Put your finger here; look, here are my hands. Give me your hand; put it into my side. Doubt no longer but believe. Thomas replied, My Lord and my God! Jesus said to him: You believe because you can see me. Happy are those who have not seen and yet believe. There were many other signs that Jesus worked and the disciples saw, but they are not recorded in this book. These are recorded so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing this you may have life through his name. This is the Gospel of the Lord. Communion Antiphon: Jesus spoke to Thomas: Put your hand here, and see the place of the nails. Doubt no longer, but believe, alleluia. Fr Kevin meals For the past 30 years, I have tried to come to families for evening meals. It s been for me a great way to get to know the whole family. Please ring the Parish House (Francesca or Sarah) and arrange a suitable date. I usually come about 6:15pm and most times have to get back to the House by 8pm. No specials, no banquets, no broccoli!! Fr Kevin RIVERINA TOURS 2 DAY DENILIQUIN TOUR departs 3 RD MAY 2010 AT 5:45am sharp from the Community Centre, Drake Street, Mornington. COST: $46:00 per head (twin share). If you would like to join our Thanksgiving program, please contact the Parish Office on 5975 2200. A Note Regarding Wills! Just a word of strong caution when people are making their wills. So please ensure that you clearly stipulate your wishes. COMBINED PARISHES RAFFLE Two weeks remain before the raffle is closed. Please return books, SOLD AND UNSOLD, by 18 th April. Books may be left in the NOTICES BOX of the Presbytery or returned on the next two Sundays. Your cooperation in reducing the workload of chasing up tardy returns will be appreciated. The Raffle Committee "Tour Of Italy April 2011 A great number attended the information night and indicated they were keen to do this trip. Geoffrey Lane and Kelly McKay both scored 8 and both had the exact winning margin. Both barrack for the Red, white and blue. We had six with 7. Dermot McCarthy and Father Kevin again chose 7 which makes them equal overall leaders. New members Mike Eastwood and Walter McMahon also had 7. Our new junior member, Didier LeMiere, also scored 7! The sixth person was David Hansen but I m not sure if his beloved Blues cost him an 8. Roma found out what a difference a few seconds can make. However Melbourne will hopefully get over the line soon. New members are still welcome. Members who fail to enter their tips get the away teams which after Round 2 would be 9. THANK YOU! An enormous THANK YOU to all the people who gave their time so generously during the Lenten and Easter season this year. All of our Easter liturgies were wonderfully, prayerful and very moving. None of them would be possible without the efforts of so many parishioners. Readers, special ministers, mass coordinators, disciples, people involved in the procession of the cross, musicians, AV operators, sacristans, church decoration, set up and pack up, flowers, ushers and altar servers. All of these people helped to make the Easter season at St. Macartan s a wonderful experience for parishioners and visitors. The feedback received by the Liturgy Group has been wonderful we couldn t do it without you!! As has become the tradition in recent years, we will be organising a dinner for all the Easter helpers in the near future. We will advise the date shortly. The Liturgy Team On behalf of the Parish Pastoral Council and all members of the Parish, we wish to acknowledge the wonderful work of the Liturgy Committee during the Lenten and Easter season. The liturgies in our parish are so impressive that we have had requests from parishes around Victoria who wish to duplicate our liturgies! We are so fortunate to be able to experience Lent and Easter with such reverant and moving ceremonies. A very big thank you to Paddy Hughes and all members of the Liturgy team for all their time and hard work. We are indeed a lucky parish! - Parish Pastoral Council

He's Alive Don Francisco The gates and doors were barred And all the windows fastened down I spent the night in sleeplessness And rose at every sound Half in hopeless sorrow And half in fear the day Would find the soldiers breakin' through To drag us all away And just before the sunrise I heard something at the wall The gate began to rattle And a voice began to call I hurried to the window Looked down into the street Expecting swords and torches And the sound of soldiers' feet But there was no one there but Mary So I went down to let her in John stood there beside me As she told us where she'd been She said they might have moved Him in the night And none of us knows where The stone's been rolled away And now His body isn't there We both ran toward the garden Then John ran on ahead We found the stone and empty tomb Just the way that Mary said But the winding sheet they wrapped Him in Was just an empty shell And how or where they'd taken Him Was more than I could tell Oh something strange had happened there But just what I did not know John believed a miracle But I just turned to go Circumstance and speculation Couldn't lift me very high 'Cause I'd seen them crucify him Then I saw him die Back inside the house again The guilt and anguish came Everything I'd promised Him Just added to my shame When at last it came to choices I denied I knew His name And even if He was alive It wouldn't be the same But suddenly the air was filled With a strange and sweet perfume Light that came from everywhere Drove shadows from the room And Jesus stood before me With his arms held open wide And I fell down on my knees And just clung to Him and cried He raised me to my feet And as I looked into His eyes The love was shining out from Him Like sunlight from the skies Guilt in my confusion Dissappeared in sweet release And every fear I'd ever had Just melted into peace He's alive yes He's alive Yes He's alive and I'm forgiven Heaven's gates are open wide He's alive yes He's alive Oh He's alive and I'm forgiven Heaven's gates are open wide He's alive yes He's alive Hallelujah He's alive He's alive and I'm forgiven Heaven's gates are open wide He's alive He's alive He's alive I believe it He's alive Sweet Jesus
