Lawrence Greetings from New York! I hope your Easter was a blessed and enjoyable one. Believe it or not it is time for us to think about our upcoming family reunion. First, I want to thank God for bringing us this far by faith. We will be celebrating our 23 rd family reunion, which is truly a blessing. This could not have been possible without your faithful assistance each year. I want to thank you for that. We are most grateful to Rev. Milton Batts and his church congregation for allowing us to use their fellowship hall for our annual picnic. I want to thank all of you for supporting the family reunion by paying your dues and bringing items to auction. This money helps with the overall expense of the family reunion. At last year s reunion we collected $425.00, the most we have ever collected for dues. The Hinton and Johnson Family reunion started in 1997 without any funds. Thanks to Richard Batts for printing our Sunday programs last year for us. This was a tremendous help with offsetting the cost. The scholarship committee would like to thank those for contributing to the scholarship fund. We can continue to support our youth upon entering college. The dues are still $15.00 per household. The money is used to cover the cost of printing, stamps, website fees, deposit for the banquet and the overall expense of the family reunion. I also want to thank those who participated in the fashion show and to Keenan Harris who was our master of ceremony. He had been coming to the reunion as a small child and continued to come until he entered college and then the military. Thanks Keenan for coming back to the reunion and bringing your family.

Hinton & Johnson Connection Page 2 This year we will have a black history program. If anyone would like to participate, please contact any of the district leaders or myself. Again, I would like to encourage each family member to commit in recruiting other family members to attend the reunion. I look forward to seeing everyone at the Hinton & Johnson reunion. You will be able to check us out on Facebook and Instagram soon. Activities Saturday September 2, 2017 Picnic The annual picnic will be at Bethlehem Baptist Church, which will start at 1:00pm. The food will only be served for one hour, so please arrive at the church promptly. The auction will follow afterwards. Please bring items for the auction. Thank you in advance. 50/50 raffle tickets will be sold at the start of the family reunion and will be sold throughout the weekend. The drawing will be held on Saturday and Sunday, September 2nd and 3rd. The price is six tickets for $5.00 or $1.00 each. Directions to Bethlehem Baptist Church from Hotels 1. Turn left on Winstead Rd. 2. Turn right on Sunset Ave. 3. Turn left on S. Halifax Rd. (Church will be on left) Bowling After the picnic for those who wish to go, we have reserved lanes at The Bowling Center Rocky Mount.
