Afterwards, uphill ride by enjoy the panoramic view of the Esdraelon Valley. Visit to the Jordan River and renewal of Baptismal promises. Ascent to Jerusalem, 5 FEBRUARY, 20 th (WEDNESDAY) SAXUM - BETHLEHEM SHEPHERDS FIELD JERUSALEM Breakfast. Travel to Saxum. Visit to the facilities of the Visitor Centre and the Multimedia Facility. Conference. Transfer Travel to Bethlehem. Lunch. Visit of the Basilica of the Nativity with the Nativity Grotto, the Chapel of San Joseph and the Chapel of San Jerome. Descent to Beit Sahour and visit the Shepherds' Field with its natural caves and the remains of the Byzantine Churches. Return to the
5 FEBRUARY, 21 st (THURSDAY) JERUSALEM Breakfast and visit of the Mount of Olives, full of evangelical memories, place of the Ascension, the Pater Noster church, inside which are the plaques with the Our Father's prayer in more than 100 languages. Contemplation of the Holy City from the top of the mountain. Walk to the small Franciscan chapel of Dominus Flevit at the foot of the Mount of Olives, and Gethsemane at the Kidron Torrent, Basilica of the Agony and Garden of Olives. Lunch. In the afternoon transfer to the Dead Sea. Possibility of bathing. Return to the hotel, dinner. 5 FEBRUARY, 22 nd (FRIDAY) JERUSALEM Breakfast, travel to the St. Stephen s Gate to enter into the old city. Visit to the St. Anna Church and the Pool of Bethesda. Walk along the Via Dolorosa to the Basilica of the Holy Sepulchre Basilica. Lunch. Visit to Mount Zion: the Armenian Quarter; the Cenacle where Jesus celebrated the Last Supper with his disciples; the Basilica of Dormition, built at the beginning of the century on the site of the Dormition of Mary. Return to the hotel, dinner. 5 FEBRUARY, 23 rd (SATURDAY) JERUSALEM Visit to St. Peter's "in Gallicantu" where the repentance of St. Peter is commemorated. Entrance to the old city through the Zion Gate and tour of the restored Jewish quarter, visiting the ancient Cardo Maximus and the Wailing Wall. Lunch. Free time. HOLY MASSES The Holy Mass will be celebrated everyday in one of the holy places the group will visit that day. The group will be accompanied by priests, so there will be also the possibility to confess. SHABBAT (JEWISH FEAST) In Israel Shabbat is a day of rest, it is a very important feast for the Jewish: it starts before sunset on Friday evening and ends on Saturday night: banks, shops and many restaurants are closed. There is also no public transport, except taxi. WEATHER February is a winter month in Rome. The average temperature is around 9 ºC (48 ºF) with highs of 14 ºC (57 ºF). Some days are sunny, but it also rains quite often. We recommend bringing heavy clothes. In Israel the weather is milder than in Rome, it may rain, but it is not very usual. Some days may be very sunny and warm, but the mornings and the evenings are quite cool. We recommend putting in your luggage heavy clothes and raincoat. Please, bring a pair of comfortable shoes suitable for long walks, preferably already used, and a swimsuit to bath in the Dead Sea.
