Romans 8:6-7 tells us that, there is a mind that is carnal and a mind that is spiritual. The carnal mind is enmity (at war) against God and it is not subjected to God s law neither indeed can be. Therefore, our mind must be changed from carnally minded to spiritually minded. Why? Because we must have the mind that gives us life and peace. CARNAL MIND DEATH SPIRITUAL MIND LIFE & PEACE 1. How do we get the spiritual mind? It is when we are justified by faith we have peace with God. 1

Romans 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our lord Jesus Christ. 2. Justification is the gift of the spiritual mind. It does not only give us peace, but it gives us life. Romans 5:18 therefore as by the offense of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation, even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life JUSTIFICATION LIFE PEACE SPIRITUAL MIND 2

3. Who justifies us? It is God alone that justifies. Romans 8:30 Who shall lay anything to the charge of God s elect? It is God that justifies. Romans 3:30 Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the Circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith. 4. God justifies us when we repent and believe the Gospel. Mark 1:14-15 Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel. Acts 13:39 And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law Moses. 5. When we repent and believe the gospel, God non imputes sin unto us, but imputes righteousness unto us. Romans 4:5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. 6 Even as David describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works. 8 Blessed is the man to whom the lord will not impute sin. 3

JUSTIFICATION GOD NON-IMPUTES SIN UNTO US GOD IMPUTES RIGHTEOUSNESS UNTO US (GOD HIMSELF) WHEN WE REPENT AND BELIEVE 6. The carnal mind causes a person to be conformed to this world, hence we should be transformed from the carnal mind. How? By the renewing of our mind, so that the person can get the spiritual mind. Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable and perfect, will of God. 4

Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration and renewing of the holy ghost. 6 Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our savior 7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. Justification changes us from the old man to the new man, so that our experience and human personality traits 5

would be like Christ, after the arrival of the new man. Colossians 3:9 lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds. 10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him. Ephesians 4:22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lust. 23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind. 24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. JUSTIFICATION THE DEPATURE OF THE OLD MAN CAUSES US TO HAVE THE CHARACTER OF CHRIST AND THE NEW THE ARRIVAL OF THE NEW MAN 6

Justification washed us, sanctified us or separated us from sin and justified us or made us righteous, from being unrighteous to righteous, by the spirit of our God. 1 Corinthians 6:9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind 10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the lord Jesus, and by the spirit of our God.
