BACK WHEN I KNEW IT ALL A JAR OF CLAY Back when I knew it all, I had the world in my hands Everything I needed was right at my command I did what I wanted and played by my own rules Disrespect and rudeness were some of my favorite tools I feel like a pot made from a large jar of clay That my Savior opened and began to mold one day As he started to mold me, I started to stray I was so determined not to follow his way Aggression and control were big parts of my disguise Selfishness and greed were the roots of my demise I was untouchable and life sure was good I controlled everything, and felt that I should I was not humble so I started to crumble But God was full of wisdom and knew I would stumble I was so deceitful and tons of trouble But he was still gracious, never once did he grumble No one could convince me that I needed to care Then one day I looked around and no one was there They were fed up and gone because I was unfair and rough They put up with me for too long and then had enough He put me back on the wheel and tried once more Because he had blessings and great things in store My burdens he took and my illnesses he cured Rid me of my weaknesses and made me pure It took losing everything for me to realize I could fall The pain of falling feels like crashing hard into walls I feel like I am drowning in a deep waterfall I need God to intervene and give my loved ones a call He kept molding me and was never tired Until I was the piece of art that he desired Shaped and trimmed with a large piece of wire Sealed with mercy and finished with fire All that I thought I knew was actually quite small I never want to go back to the days when I knew it all To emerge as the saved man that I once was not Finally molded like clay to stand tall like a pot 4 Poems from God Poems from God 5
A SOLDIER I was a soldier for satan and had fallen on my own sword Death, frustration, and heartache were all waiting as my rewards My heart has been pierced as I fell on the battle field My only hope for survival was to begin to do God s will Jesus showed up as my paramedic and he administered C.P.R. He removed the sword from my heart and patched up all my scars He told me how much he loved me, when my condition was stabilized And then I felt I could go on with Jesus as my guide I am still in an army, but I have a new COMMANDER-N-CHIEF And when I become weary, he settles all my grief He is the almighty and he paid the ultimate price I am now a soldier for my Lord and his name is Jesus Christ! 6 Poems from God Poems from God 7
