You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of all the earth. Acts 1:8 Pentecost Ten o clock May 24, 2015 Prelude: Kyrie, God Holy Spirit J. S. Bach Welcome and Announcements Call to Worship: Gracious Spirit, Heavenly Dove John Purifoy Come, gracious Spirit, heavenly Dove, our light and comfort from above. Be Thou our Guardian, Thou our Guide over every thought and step preside. Lead us to Christ, the living Way, nor let us from His precepts stray. Lead us to holiness, the road that we must take to dwell with God. The light of Truth to us display, and make us know and choose the Way. Plant holy fear in every heart, that we from Thee may never depart. Lead us to heaven that we may share fullness of joy forever there. Lead us to God, our final rest, to be with Him forever blest. * Opening Hymn: Creator Spirit, By Whose Aid #523:1-3 * God s Greeting Call to Confession Prayer of Confession CONFESSION AND ASSURANCE Hymn of Confession: Spirit of God, Who Dwells within My Heart #618:1-5 Assurance of Pardon * Affirmation of Faith: The Apostles Creed front cover of Hymnal * Please stand if possible
PRAISE AND PRAYER * Song of Response: "Spirit of the Living God" #749:1-2 (Kindergarten 4 th grade children may come forward during the singing of this song.) Message for Children Anthem: Come Down, O Love Divine Come down, O Love divine, seek Thou this soul of mine, And visit it with Thine own ardour glowing: O Comforter, draw near, within my heart appear, And kindle it, Thy holy flame bestowing. O let it freely burn, till earthly passions turn to dust And ashes in its heat consuming. And let Thy glorious light shine ever on my sight, And clothe me round, the while my path illuming. Let holy charity mine outward vesture be, And lowliness become mine inner clothing; True lowliness of heart, which takes the humbler part, And over its own shortcomings weeps with loathing. And so the yearning strong, with which the soul will long, Shall far outpass the power of human telling. For we cannot guess its grace till we become the place Wherein the Holy Spirit makes its dwelling. Come down, O love divine!
