First Reading: Daniel 7:13-14 Daniel describes the one who will appear on the clouds of heaven and receive glory. People of every language will serve this one, and his leadership and community will be his forever. Second Reading: Revelation 1:5-8 Jesus is so powerful, he is the ruler of kings. He loved us enough to free us from sin, and so he will be glorified forever. He will appear again and be seen by all the people of the earth. God calls himself the first and last, "the One who is and who was and who is to come," reminding all people that God will remain with us always. Gospel: John 18:33b-37 NOVEMBER 25, 2018 - Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe Pilate asks Jesus if he is a king. Jesus explains that his kingdom is not of this world. Pilate asks again if Jesus is a king, to which he replies, "I came into the world to testify to the truth. Anyone committed to the truth hears my voice. A FRESH PERSPECTIVE ON THE SUNDAY READINGS HIS WORD TODAY by Rev. William J. Reilly Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe November 25, 2018 Jesus Christ is the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead and the ruler of the kings of the earth. In Him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by His blood, who has made us into a kingdom of priests for His God and Father, to Him be glory and power forever. Amen. On the day of our baptism when the minister took the holy chrism and anointed our foreheads we were told that now we share with Jesus in the threefold role of priest, prophet and king. The name Christ means the anointed one. We often refer to baptism by another name christening. As we bring the church year to a close, we pledge our loyalty to Jesus Christ, and dedicate ourselves to build the kingdom of Jesus Christ. The many parables taught by Jesus described His kingdom, the church. Many told us of the hidden treasure, as well as the weeds and the wheat. The kingdom of Jesus finds good and bad, strengths and weaknesses, but it s the kingdom of the Lord and we are part of it. Let us build the kingdom of God, as He wishes it to be. May we pray, thy kingdom come with new awareness and deep devotion.

This will enable families to come to mass before Religious Education, at 8:30 am, or attend mass after Religious Education at 11:00am. An informal survey showed no objections. The Choir looks forward to the change and the parish council approved the move. Mass Schedule at St. Matthew beginning December 2nd: Saturday Vigil Mass: 5:00 pm Sunday Masses: 8:30 am & 11:00 am FIRST SATURDAY DEVOTION Last month we began to list Our Lady of Fatima s messages which we will now continue. The Sts. Peter & Paul and St. Ursula Men s Club is sponsoring a winter coat drive from November 12th to December 19th, to benefit those in need in the local community. We are in need of new or gently used adult and children's coats. Coats can brought to the Sts. Peter & Paul and St. Ursula Rectory, 129 Birch Street, Mt. Vernon, or you can call 914-668-9815 to schedule a pick-up of your donation (Five or more coats). St. Stanislaus Kostka Holy Rosary Society will hold its annual Christmas Luncheon on Sunday, December 9, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. at Sam's Restaurant, 126 Main St., Dobbs Ferry. Cost is $35.00 per person. All parishioners are welcome. For reservations, please call Ann at 478-3264 by Wednesday, December 5th. In lieu of grab bag gifts, a collection will be taken and donated to Rosary Hill Nursing Home. 1. She came to warn us to amend our lives and ask pardon for our sins. We must stop offending Our Lord who is already much offended. 2. She said she can no longer restrain the hand of her Divine Son from striking the world with just punishment for its many crimes. 3. She told us to say the rosary every day to obtain peace for the world. Wars are a punishment from God for sin. 4. The Lord has confided the peace of the world to Mary. If people do what I tell you, Our Lady told the children at Fatima, many souls will be saved and there will be peace. 5. God wishes to establish in the world devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The Heat of Jesus wishes to be venerated together with the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Our next First Saturday is December 1st. Please join us at Our Lady of Perpetual Help for the 8:00am Mass and the rosary with meditation on the mysteries.
