The ONLY Christian church in existence for the first 1,000 years of Christian history was the Roman Catholic Church. All other Christian churches which exist today can trace their linage back to the Roman Catholic Church. Most non-catholic churches which exist today are less than a century or two old by comparison. About 15 percent of all hospitals in the United States are Catholic hospitals. In some parts of the world, the Catholic Church provides the only healthcare, education and social services available to people. In the winter months the Precious Tots Preschool allows parents to do a curbside drop off near the door with the Mary & children statue. Bright orange cones are blocking off this area so please do not try to exit going that direction. If you are attending morning Mass please use the exit off of North Avenue to leave the Church parking lot. Safety of our children is our # 1 concern. The Catholic Church consists of more than just the Roman Catholic Church. There are 22 Eastern Rites that are in full communion with Rome and although they go by different names, they are every bit as much a part of the Catholic Church. www.catholic.org 4 Thank you for supporting the youth, teens and adults of Lifelong Faith Formation
Come, Follow Me...and share the Word 2019 Annual Catholic Appeal Many families in our parish will be receiving the Annual Catholic Appeal request mailing from Cardinal Cupich. On behalf of those served by ministries, parishes and schools who receive funding from the Appeal, we thank you for your gifts. Please return your response either by mailing or dropping in the collection basket. Families will be able to return their responses back to the Church during Mass. St. Peter Damian will also have an in pew weekend where you can donate in the next few weeks. The Annual Catholic Appeal offers a wonderful opportunity to answer Jesus call to Come, Follow Me...and share the Word. In addition to providing for ministries and services throughout the Archdiocese, the Appeal also funds services that are of great help here in our Parish. As we contemplate God s many gifts to us, we should also reflect on our gratitude. Your financial support for the work of our Parish, our Archdiocese, and the Church throughout the world is one way to express gratitude.
