Page 2 A NOTE FROM FATHER ANDREW Dear Parish Family, Just a reminder about the Faith to Move Mountains Campaign, your gifts and support of this campaign can help our parish tremendously. We shared with you some of the projects we would like to use the money for. Thank you for your support. Inserted in this week s bulletin is a Comparative Six Month Financial Report provided to you by the Finance Council. This is in response to keeping you informed and updated with regard to the financial health of the parish. The NET team presented our candidates for Confirmation with a wonderful retreat last Thursday in preparation for the reception of the sacrament of confirmation in November. My thanks to the Confirmation Prep Team and all the volunteers who housed the NET team over a few days and also to everyone who was involved in any way. It turned out to be a beautiful experience for the candidates, please keep them in your prayers. But I tell you, if you do not repent, you will all perish as they did! Who wants to repent? Who wants to change habits, make sacrifices, or chart a more challenging course? Repentance isn t the easy road. Perhaps that s why Jesus had to speak with such boldness in today s Gospel. Repent, or perish. Not what we like to hear. Not what we like to do. But we would be foolish not to listen. The entire Gospel message is certainly one of mercy and compassion. Jesus was the first to show forgiveness to sinners, and he always called others to do the same. He suffered and died so that we wouldn t have to suffer eternal death. But the fact remains that we can still choose to perish, to stay rooted in our favorite sins and to cling tightly to the comfortable vices that stifle a virtuous life. But Jesus urges us to change so that we can enjoy the eternal benefits of his mercy. Lent is a time especially built for repentance. These forty days are a response to Christ s stern warning that we need to repent in order to save our souls. Let s not pretend to be exempt from the message. Lent is meant for all of us. Have a wonderful week. See you on the weekend. Holy Rosary is said every Sunday morning at 8 am just before the beginning of the 8:30 Mass. Communion Service Every Tuesday at 9:00 am Except on Holy Days Fr. R ESPECT LIFE MINISTRY One of the many resources we have to foster Respect for Life is our own Trenton Diocese Respect Life Ministry. During the year, they sponsor both religious and social events to involve and inform the members of the Diocese. Some of these are the Fortnight for Freedom to protect our religious liberty, Voices for Truth Teen Workshop on teen chastity, and the Respect Life Mass and Witness respect Life Poster Essay and Video contest in Red Bank. They also alert the parishes on important Life legislative initiatives that require public comment. The Diocese Respect Life office coordinates the activities of the Parish respect life groups throughout the Diocese. To see more on the upcoming activities, check the Monitor or the web site at http://www.dioceseoftrenton.org/respectlifeministry/ Page 3 Respect Life A TIME TO HOPE AND HEAL If you are experiencing pain and loss resulting from the death of a loved one, we would like to extend an invitation to you to become a part of our support group. We offer afternoon/ Evening Sessions. If you would like more information, please contact Deacon Joseph DeLuca at 609-268-8383 ext 114 or Barbara Hendrickson at 609-859-0688. O NLINE GIVING Visit our website at www.holyeucharist.org to sign up and begin donating to the church automatically. Use the Internet for the good of the parish through this secure and convenient process. Online Giving can be effectively used on its own or with regular offering envelopes. If you would still like to receive envelope packets but also want to give online, you have the option to do so. REMEMBRANCE IN YOUR WILL A remembrance in your will for your parish is a wonderful way to provide for the future well-being of your parish community. 02/21/16 -Collection $13,779.50 S PRING FLING As I sit at my desk, watching the snow fall, I can t believe the Basket Ladies are busily filling and wrapping our first Spring Fling Baskets. (over 30 completed) Believe it or not Spring is not too far around the corner and so is the Spring Fling Basket Party! Mark your calendar! The date is April 10! Last year we had over 200 fun baskets, great door prizes, and lots of winners. The Spring Fling would not be the success it is, if it was not for each of you, our Faith Community. Once again we are going to ask you to look around for baskets of all sizes especially large and extra large baskets with a special request for 13x17 inch baskets. We need gifts to fill the baskets. They should be new or items you would like to re-gift or in like new condition. You bring the gifts and our talented team of basket designers will turn them into something beautiful and fun. If you have a business and would like to donate a basket or a gift certificate we would be grateful. Individuals, families and ministries who enjoy being creative may also like to donate a basket. Items can be dropped off in the education wing, or in baskets marked Spring Fling in the cafe. If you have any questions, you can email Anne Marie Kelly at akelly@holyeucharist.org or call 268-8383ext.103 The Spring Fling is a warm welcome to the beginning of Spring after a cold, snowy winter. It is a party many of us look forward to each year. Thank you for your continued support. Anne Marie and the Basket Ladies F AITH IN OUR FUTURE UPDATE Thank you to the over 200 parishioners who responded to our parish survey. We appreciate your comments and thoughtful feedback. This past Monday, the core team met and with the survey as a guide, they began the parish evaluation of criteria for planning. This process evaluates our parish s experience in the area of Sacramental Life, Evangelization, Catechesis and Catholic Schools, Communal Life and Stewardship and Leadership. They reviewed present activity in each category, applied a rating scale (from the survey) and made notes for planning. The Core team will be attending a training session along with the other parishes in March. On our website this week, you will find the survey rating results. Please remember the Core team in your prayers as we continue this important process. Visit our website for complete information on Faith in Our Future. http://holyeucharist.org/#/faith-in-our-future
