Kerygma180 PO Box 26856, London W7 2QJ www.k180.org I Email: office@k180.org Director: Rev. Martin Durham Winter 2017-18 Dear 2017 has passed and as A.W. Tozer puts it, it has joined "the long procession of years and centuries that move on into the shadows of a past that can come no more. In the year just gone the world has been writing history..." And so, I ask myself the question, what history have I been writing? What history has K180 been writing? A well-worn phrase reminds us that history is really HIS story. Any worthwhile history that has been written through K180 must have been rooted in Jesus. And this is how we determine to start 2018. When I look at the ministry landscape, particularly in the West, there is so much hot air, gimmickry, a sense of being swept along with the latest ministry fad or, worse still, a capitulation to an ever-antagonistic culture, eager to shape Christianity in its own image, or extinguish it completely. There is a critical need to stay faithful to Christ and His word, to hold our nerve as we stand on His eternal promises, to hold an unswerving confidence in the gospel, which remains the power of God unto salvation (Romans 1:16). I was reminded recently of the account of someone approaching Michelangelo upon seeing his sculpture masterpiece, David. The man asked Michelangelo; "How do you take a lump of marble and create this?" Michelangelo's reply was profound; "I just chip off the bits that don't look like David." Do you want to make history in Jesus' Name? Know that every day counts. Each day that passes cannot be recovered. Spend it wisely. There is but one way. Allow God to shape, mould, sharpen your life. Allow God to chip off those bits in your life that do not look like Jesus. Then He will do the rest. He will take care of the writing of HIS story through your obedient life. 'So teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom' (Psalm 90:12) And so, this is our focus here at K180 as we press ahead. Eyes on Jesus. Faithful to preach Christ and Him crucified. And to train others to do the same. Nothing more. Nothing less. We know we cannot do this in our own strength. So, we seek to allow him to shape us and empower us by His Holy Spirit as He unfolds history. Thank you for your partnership in the gospel. It is of huge encouragement. We value your friendship and partnership more than we can adequately express, and we are looking forward to seeing what stories He writes during 2018. Many blessings Please note that we have regular email updates from K180 available. These include video testimonies, latest updates, news of evangelistic resources etc. Please email office@k180.org asking to Subscribe if you would like to receive these.

EURO STREET TEAMS Wolfsburg, Germany There was a strong air of expectancy as the K180 team travelled to Wolfsburg in October. Working with 'Immanuel Church', we had been in conversation with the church leaders beforehand about introducing the young adults to open-air preaching. After leading some training on the Saturday, the 40 or so young adults then had a choice of whether to head to the streets or to opt for something 'in house'. All but 3 wanted to tackle the open-air preaching! And we saw God at work in the centre of Wolfsburg! Many gospel conversations, young people giving their testimony publicly for the first time, passers-by received prayed. It was an exciting afternoon. The Gospel is powerful (Romans 1:16) and His word does not return void (Isaiah 55:11). Please pray for the on-going outreach as the young adults seek to proclaim Christ in an increasingly secular German culture. Poland In December, K180 sent a team of four to connect with and support the Street Church teams in Gorzów and Poznań in their regular outreaches where they preach the gospel and feed the hungry with free soup. Gareth led the team, joined by trainees Johnny and Jenn, and Jenny Carroll from Open Air Campaigners. It was encouraging to see about six people raise hands in response to the gospel challenge and call to follow Christ on Wednesday evening. One young lady, S*, was visibly touched as she spoke with, and prayed with a Polish team member afterwards. She lived locally in Gorzów but had never heard of Street Church or seen them before. Please pray for her as the team follow up with her. We also met a man on Thursday, in Poznań, for whom the team had arranged a place at a Christian rehab centre in the south of Poland. We thank God for lives being transformed, and praise Him that, with team members from different church backgrounds, there is unity in the gospel!

TRAINEES Hi, my name is Johnny, I am 17 and I'm training with K180 for ten months. I have really enjoyed it so far, and with just over three months to go I can't wait to see what the new year will bring. God has shown me so much through the different opportunities I have had with K180. From young leaders conferences to full-on missions in Europe, God has taken me on a journey of discovery. It has helped me to discover more of who God is and what His plan and purpose is for my life. God has been teaching me so much and moving powerfully on the streets of Europe in people's hearts and lives. I have seen several people come to Christ as a result of the missions I have been on, so praise the Lord because that is our purpose. Thank you to everyone at K180. Hi, I m Jennifer Symington, I m 19 and a trainee with K180. I started my K180 traineeship in late September and am going to be around until August 2018. I decided to take time to do a traineeship with K180 as I felt quite challenged by God to share my faith with others. One of my highlights of the past few months was going to Wolfsburg, Germany. We helped teach the young people about evangelism and then took to the streets. It was so encouraging to see strong Christians around my age, as well as seeing some of them really enjoy the outreach. So far, I am loving my time in London and feel so blessed to have an amazing family to stay with and training from K180. I feel I have already grown a lot and I am excited to see how God will use me in the coming year.

UNASHAMED In October, we held our most recent Unashamed equipping event for local believers at the home of our Friday night West London outreach meeting place, Haven Green Baptist Church. We had representatives from several churches joining us for the morning as we took a fresh look at the impact of using everyday illustrations (e.g. an eraser, a set of house keys, or a plunger) to share the gospel with those in our families, offices, and on the streets - just like Jesus did. People engaged in every profession or personal interest require some degree of ongoing learning and training to maintain best practices. How much more so the task of sharing our faith in Jesus to those around us? We must remain unashamed of the gospel, and well-equipped in our ability to share it with others! FAITHBRIDGE ADULT TEAM In mid-october, we welcomed the team from Faithbridge church in Houston, Texas. We were so honoured to have them join us for 10 days, to train and help spread the message and love of Jesus across London. Amidst the aftermath and rebuilding work in Houston following the extensive damage caused by Hurricane Harvey, the team still felt God calling them to go beyond the immediate needs of their own city. We believe the investment they made to be here at such a time will be used to draw many to Jesus back in Houston and in the other nations in which Faithbridge has partnerships. This was the fourth Faithbridge team to join us for training, but the first exclusively adult team. The five members of the team were as eager as any we ve witnessed to get out there and put their training into practice. It was a joy to be with them and to see them engaging people in conversation to share about Jesus everywhere we went. Their conversations with one another were equally exciting as they began to discuss how to continue these efforts when they returned home. That s the hope; that every believer would realise the part God has planned for them in sharing the hope of Jesus with those around them.

TRAINING YOUNG EVANGELISTS The equipping of young evangelists through the specific EEI program remains a key strategy of the K180 ministry. We need to see evangelists raised up across Europe. Alongside churches and ministry partners in each country, we have had the privilege of training young men and women during the last few months in Iceland, Italy, Spain and the UK. The training typically takes place over a two-year period, with mentoring and practical opportunities built in, providing clear and incisive equipping to preach the word and call others to follow Christ. We are also pleased to say that new EEI initiatives are scheduled to be launched in both Germany and Russia during the first half of 2018. And the training is making a difference... This young man is named Nunzio. Last April, he joined our training for emerging Italian evangelists. During that first weekend in Naples, the Lord clearly spoke to Nunzio. Employed in a company of 130 workers, Nunzio knew that he had to share the gospel with each one... personally. "I asked God to open the way for me to have the list of all the workers, and the Lord listened to me!" "I found comfort and courage in the promises of God, especially Joshua 1:9; 'Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.'" Nunzio then started systematically to share the gospel with 2 or 3 colleagues every day, determined that he would eventually share the Good News with every single worker. And he is almost there! And there have been many significant conversations, so much so that he has now approached the management about holding a regular Christian meeting on company premises. Indications are that they will agree, but please pray! May such urgency grow in each one of us. Thank you for partnering with us in this critical task of equipping young evangelists across Europe.

OSLO A team from K180 and the Icelandic EEI went to Oslo, Norway to serve at the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association Festival of Hope at Oslo Spektrum, an arena in the city centre. The bulk of the team s time was spent on the street, inviting many to the Festival and seeking to share the gospel. We had precious times declaring the gospel on the Parliament Square with a group from Jesus Revolution, a bible school based in the city, who are out regularly, sharing the gospel through music, dance, testimony and preaching. The team were on hand to serve as needed during the events themselves. We were encouraged to see over 200 respond to the gospel during the two nights of the festival. Please pray for local churches as they seek to follow up those who responded. GIVE AS YOU LIVE In May 2016, K180 trialled Give as you Live as a way of raising extra funds for free! Eighteen months later and 25 of our UK supporters have helped us raise almost 350 simply by doing their regular online shopping without it costing them anything extra. Give as you Live is a shopping website which partners over 4200 online stores. They earn commission from retailers each time a sale is generated through their website. 50% of this commission is then passed to each shopper's chosen charity, costing the shopper nothing extra at all. In 2018, we hope to raise 500 through Give as you Live will you sign up and help us today? If you live in the UK, it s simple to start raising free funds for K180: 1. Go to www.giveasyoulive.com/join/kerygma180 2. Take a few seconds to sign up as a shopper 3. Start raising funds for K180 for free! Thank you for your support.

TRAINING YOUNG LEADERS The last few months have seen several History Makers training events, including those supported by Gareth's marathon fund raising endeavour. Thank you to all those who sponsored Gareth, and in so doing, sponsored many young leaders training across Europe. As you will read below, your investment is making a difference! Czech Republic Poland Albania Moldova Lithuania "Hello, my name is Snejana, I am from Moldova and I am the youth and teens leader in village Brinza, South side of Moldova. In October I had the chance to come to History Makers. To be honest before coming to this training I was thinking to give up on my ministry here... but God helped me through this teaching to trust Him more... About discipleship, one of the girls that God has trusted to me (Mihaela) now has her own disciple, whose name is Indira. I was so impressed how she was listening to all what I was sharing with them after History Makers. She started to do all that she heard from me, which is amazing. I thank God for History Makers because thanks to it I am still here and have so many plans and ideas that we can do with my team. We are about 17-20 youth all together, so if one person could do so much... I am thinking how much we all could do! History Makers is a huge encouragement to people like me and to people like my youth. I am praying to God for all the brothers and sisters that are working on History Makers, to give their best to teach people like me not to give up and do what God has called us to do."

LOOKING AHEAD So, 2017 has now passed. The year will be memorable for many, some good memories and some more difficult memories. We are grateful that because of the gospel, the year 2017 will be indelibly imprinted on some lives as being the year they turned from darkness to light, from death to life, from sin to Jesus! Early on 31st December, I read this message from a young evangelist who has graduated from the Red Timoteo training initiative in Spain; "Hello family! Tonight, we will have an evangelistic outing on the deck of Leganes, (Madrid) Dani and I ask you for prayer" And then a short while later... Thank you very much to everyone, for your words and prayers. It was a time filled with God's presence and several people recognised their need for God. Really, Red Timoteo has changed our lives. We carry you in our hearts and we remember you." An encouragement indeed as we transitioned from one year to the next! Our focus remains resolutely the same as we move into 2018. We will continue to actively proclaim the gospel and to train young evangelists and leaders for gospel ministry. Indeed, responding to His leading, we are launching new ventures this year, which, by God's grace, will accelerate the advance of the gospel through the equipping of young lives. How to partner We are thankful to God for those who partner with us in different ways, not least financially. As we move into this new year, the needs only continue to grow as we seek to make the most of every opportunity He lays before us. Please may we invite you to consider partnering with us in this way? Every gift makes a difference and enables us to move forward with much purpose in partnership with local churches and ministries. You can use the enclosed 'Response Form' or visit www.k180.org/donate Thank you for your consideration. May this year be your most fruitful yet, in Jesus' Name!
