Please Note Change of Date Sunday, February 17th during the 10:45 am Mass at St. John s. To help with preparations please call St. John s office to register:436-6380. REFRESHERS! LOW GLUTEN As a reminder for those who require low gluten hosts it will always be the presider who distributes low gluten hosts. The hosts will be held in a separate pyx which will have been placed in his ciborium. Anyone in need of this type of host should simply get into the presiders communion line and say to the presider, "Low gluten" before the priest says, "The Body of Christ." COMMUNION TO HOMEBOUND People bringing Holy Communion to the homebound first receive Holy Communion with the other members of the congregation. Then, after Holy Communion the celebrant or deacon will call you forward, you will then come forward with your empty pyx and stand in a line parallel to the altar. The celebrant or deacon will come down to you and put one host into each pyx. After the ordained minister places the host in the pyx, please close it and place it in a burse which should be worn around your neck. At this point, the ordained minister will pray a short prayer over you. You can then return to your pew. At the conclusion of the Mass, make your visit as soon as possible. Purify the pyx as soon as possible by filling the pyx with water and consume it. Then you may wash with warm soap and water and dry. Remember, every tiny particle IS Jesus! Thank you to those who are a part of this special ministry!

FROM FR. JOE I need your help with something. At times the Deacons, Eucharistic ministers and I can't catch everything. A few weeks ago, a man received Holy Communion from me and didn't immediately consume our Lord. Usually, by the time they start turning to walk away they begin consuming the host. Sometimes however, they do not and by the time we notice it, it is difficult to catch them and ask them to consume the host. So, first, I would ask all of you when receiving the host, to immediately consume our Lord in view of the minister. Second, if you ever see someone walking with the host in their hand, not consuming it, you have my permission and encouragement to reach out to them, get their attention as they are walking back to the pew and say, "Are you going to consume that host? If not, I could bring it back to the priest." In the case I mentioned above, by the time I was able to find him, I couldn't be sure what happened to the host because I had lost sight of the host as he walked back to his pew. As you may know, we have had cases in the diocese where the host has been removed from Church and then found outside or otherwise desecrated. Let's do our best working together to make it more difficult for this to happen. Thank you. ~Fr. Joe MARRIAGE ENCOUNTER Got the Winter Blues?
