THE SILVER SIGNAL Next Club Meeting April 25 th 2014 7:30 p.m. Lone Star Club Executive Officers Ellen Jackson ellen_jackson@sil.org President Dave Totzke totzke4@hotmail.com Vice-President Ivan Santos Secretary Robert Jordan bobby.jordan@tx.rr.com Treasurer Message from the Prez.Ellen Jackson http://www.lonestartreasure.com/index.shtml We were well represented at the TAMDC show in Sweetwater April 5-6. Thank you to each member who drove the distance and brought multiple display cases. We filled our seven tables easily! The hotel accommodations were good and I heard there were some pretty loud and late evening card games. Congratulations to several winners of the raffles and at the Sunday hunt. We also had several members join the Coppell Historical Society s annual hunt in Liberty, TX April 12-13. They are searching for remnants of the 1818 French colony settlement along the Trinity river. This year the sponsors brought in a backhoe to take off the top layer of soil in several strips, allowing us to hunt deeper. A number of interesting finds were made including a pin from World War 1, but nothing dating back to the time of the fort. LOCATION OF THE APRIL MEETING! Our April meeting will be at the Garrett company headquarters in Garland. The address is 1881 W State St, Garland, TX. We will park out front and use the main entrance. This will not be an ordinary meeting so there will be no FOM, marble drawing, birthday drawing, etc. We ll have Vaughn Garrett as speaker, a tour of the facilities, a raffle, and snacks. Your help with bringing snacks will be appreciated. Ray will be out of town so no hot dogs this time! The meeting will start at 7:30 as usual. See you at the meeting!

Our Guest Speaker for the April Meeting Is Vaughan Garrett I am sure he will give a very interesting presentation and maybe we can get him to talk about all the interesting finds he has seen for the monthly contest he is having for the best Find of The month. Here is the April 2014 winner

Each month, Vaughan will pick his Favorite Find of the month for the U.S. and International. For each 2014 winner, he will give away an AT Gold detector AND some special edition Garrett 50-Year Anniversary items of his choice. Two golden winners each month! WHAT DO YOU DO? Simply submit your favorite find photo and story. (Same 3 ways: online form, via mail, or email). Everyone who submits will get a FREE Garrett 50-year patch AND a free 50-year sticker. WHEN DOES IT START? January 1, 2014 and running through December 31, 2014. On or about the tenth day of the next month, Vaughan will announce his winners selected from everyone who entered during the previous month. WHO CAN ENTER? Anyone and everyone is encouraged to submit a personal treasure hunting success story with Garrett Metal Detectors. Every time a personal treasure hunting story is submitted, I become excited for the treasure hunter who made it happen. HOW DO I DECIDE? Each story has elements of excitement, expertise, effort, emotion, and sometimes just plain ol good fortune. Each month I will select MY favorite find, selected from the submit-a-story testimonials which are sent in by Garrett treasure hunters world-wide. My criteria will be based on what excites ME the most. It s not always the rarest find or the most valuable that touches me. It may be a great find, a great story, a great photograph, a great history lesson, or maybe a great heart-felt emotion. If I don t select you one month, please don t be discouraged. Who knows? You just might be the one I pick next month! WHO WILL WIN? Each month I will select one local (United States) and one International success story as my favorite submission. Each of these selected treasure hunters will receive one FREE Garrett AT Gold as my way of saying thanks to those persons who took the time to get out there, discover that treasure and submit their story to Garrett. Each month my column will be presented on the www.garrett.com website and also in the periodic newsletter, The Garrett Searcher. Happy hunting and good fortune! Limited Edition Garrett items free to everyone who enters!
