Now is the Time to Heal Given the current economic crisis and all the divisive issues facing our church, healing and wholeness are desperately needed in our church and in our world. Jesus offers us his love, grace, forgiveness and reconciliation as means to restore the body of Christ to health and unity. The Episcopal Healing Ministry Foundation (EHMF) is committed to encouraging and educating all persons in the experience of God's healing presence that is available in today s 21 st century as it was 2000 years ago. To discern and empower God s gift of healing and reconciliation, the EHMF has enlisted the help of many new advisors and a new foundation director. The Advisory Council and the Bishop Advisor, the Rt. Rev. Thomas Breidenthal, bring a wealth of wisdom and insight from a wide variety of professional backgrounds. See p. 7 to learn more about Advisory Council members. Hawley Todd TSSF is EHMF s new foundation director. He brings 27 years of experience and commitment to healing and wholeness ministries and has been associated with EHMF since its inception in 1987. He has led retreats and healing missions in the United States and Canada and has done extensive work training and equipping healing teams for parish ministry. In the spring of 2009, he presented workshops at 2 parish health ministry conferences. The latest was National Episcopal Health Ministries conference in Omaha. The EHMF is in the process of redesigning its web site to make information and training more readily available for groups throughout the Anglican Communion. Individuals and parishes will have greater access to in-depth mentoring and consultation for their ministries of healing. In his role as formation director, Hawley has been contacted by clergy and lay persons from a variety of locations in the United States, Canada, India and England for assistance and guidance for starting, maintaining, revitalizing, and troubleshooting healing and health ministries. 3

Celebration of Wholeness and Healing with Healing Service An evening designed to invite God s healing presence to become truly manifest to all. 5

The healing ministry is for all who seek a closer relationship with God; for all who seek to grow in grace and knowledge of Him. Christ is a healing Savior who heals all brokenness in every area of our lives. The Rev. Emily Gardiner Neal Why were we founded? The EHMF was established in 1987 as a 501 C 3 charitable organization to implement the threefold healing ministry of Jesus Christ - to proclaim the kingdom of God, to teach, and to heal. WHAT IS OUR MISSION? The mission of the EHMF is to proclaim by word and example the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ by being obedient to his imperatives of teaching and healing. The EHMF is devoted to training, instructing and preparing both clergy and laity to the highest professional standards of practice in ministries of healing. The staff of the EHMF is available to lead ministries of healing through missions, retreats, liturgical services, and intercessory prayer. What is our vision of healing? All healing proceeds from God. Healing prayer is a sacramental activity. The best metaphor for prayers of healing is the epiclesis in the Holy Eucharist. 6
