ORDER OF SERVICE WE GATHER IN GOD S NAME IN GATHERING *Standing to praise God. Bolded words are spoken by the congregation. CALL OF THE BELL PRELUDE Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus Helen Lemmel (Please enter into a time of centering silence during the Prelude). Roy Campbell WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS INTROIT Sing a New Song to the Lord CALL TO WORSHIP Leader: Grace and peace to you from the One who is, who always was, and who is still to come the Alpha and Omega the beginning and the end. Congregation: This is our God the One who loves us, and who gave himself for us; who gathers us together in this place, and bids us seek his face. ALL: Let s worship God together! *HYMN #2 Holy God we Praise Thy Name OPENING PRAYER (in unison) With thankful hearts we pause this day to be reminded of our grandest hope: that the calamities, the demands, even the blessings of this world do not have the last word. You are the one who was and is, and who is yet to come a ruler of a different kind. Open our hearts to the comfort, the challenge and the mystery of this good news. In the name of Jesus Christ, your faithful witness, we pray. Amen.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION God of all creation, before time and beyond space, we admit to our human limits as we try to imagine the reign of truth that you envision for us. When we follow worldly powers and stray from the good path you desire for all you have created, give us Jesus. Give us Jesus, O God not a Jesus high and lifted up, but chained and arraigned by authorities with boldness to tell the truth. Speak through our words and deeds, that your will may be done in our time. Embolden us with the confidence that your reign will one day come. Come, O Strong One, come. Amen. WORDS OF ASSURANCE God s promises are everlasting, ordered and secure. God loves us and frees us. Accept God s forgiveness, for we are forgiven. Amen, Alleluia! Pastor: Lift up your hearts. People: We lift them up unto the Lord. Pastor: Let us give thanks unto our Lord God. People: It is right to give God thanks and praise. Pastor: We do praise and bless you, Eternal God, for creation, and for the gift of life, and for your abiding love which always seeks to hold us close to you. We thank you that at the right time you sent Jesus Christ, born of Mary, to live in our midst, to share in our suffering, and to accept the pain of death because of his love. We celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit to gather your Church by which your work may be done in the world and through which we share the gift of eternal life. Therefore we praise you, joining our voices with angels and archangels, and with your sons and daughters of faith in all places and times, we celebrate your glory by singing your praise. The Mission of the Month for October will be a collection of hats and mittens/gloves for the children at Hyannis West School located at 549 W. Main Street. The children are in kindergarten thru grade 3. The ages of these students range from 5 to 8 years old. Please place your donated items in the designated box in the vestibule, and we will make sure they get delivered before the snow flies! Thank you for your continued support of our Church's missions Christmas Commons News WE HAVE THE BASKETS, but need you to donate items. As Christmas Commons approaches, it is time to start thinking about what you have to donate to the baskets we make each year. We are looking for any item that could be put in a gift basket from food items to table items. We use our imagination to combine whatever has been donated. Monetary donations as well as completed baskets are welcome. Please bring items to church in a bag with Mission Committee on it, or put them in our donation box. We will be collecting items until November 18 th, the week before Thanksgiving. All items are welcome. Sue Donald, Chairperson Missions Committee

CHRISTMAS COMMONS HELPERS LIST: The Christmas Commons Fair is a full Church event. We have the front-line WORKER ELVES and just as important are the behind the scenes BUSY BEE ELVES. 1. Our Craft Team Elves, Jan and Chris, have their workshops on Thursdays from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Everyone is invited to join the group. If it is not possible to join them but you have an idea(s) for a craft, let them know. If you like making a craft(s), the Craft Team would be more than happy to except all donations. 2. The Home-Made Goodie Elf needs volunteers to make the goodies for the goodie table. Let Elf Ellen know you have a donation(s). Ellen needs to know what items you will make so she can have a count of what she will have to sell. 3. We have two talented Gift Basket Elves, Sue and Pam, who put together our gift baskets. They will have a drop box for new items of any sort, such as home goods, foods (drop last week for freshness), personal items, etc. Our elves will also accept a completed basket donated by a person or group effort. Note: if you have the items for a complete basket but don t have a basket or the means to wrap it, the elves will do the wrapping. 4. The Jewelry Master Elf has returned. Cindy will need to restock her table. Go through your boxes and drawers for donations. Contact Cindy if you find a donation(s). 5. Our Knitting Elves have been knitting all year long. Elf Jean has a knitting group and would love to have more members. Again, home knitters can donate any items(s) they have knitted for Jean s table. 6. The Wreath Elves will be looking for evergreens of all kinds and holly with berries. Donations can be brought to the church on Sunday, November 25 th or if you prefer, someone can come to your home to clip your greens. We will arrange a time to get to your home. This year there will be two nights to decorate the wreaths. More to come later on the dates. 7. Elf Geri is going to start a new table this year. Geri will let us know what she will be looking for. 8. The book table will need gently used books and we are adding gently used toys and donated misc. items also gently used. Elf Joanne will run the table, but contact Carol about donations. If you have questions, please contact Carol Wroblewski at 508-737-5458/508-398-2481. You can also leave a message or information with the church office (508-298-0298) and Robin will relay the message to Carol.
