Our's is said to be a life of freedom that we find on the open road. We get to see the open road from a vantage not realized by the majority of our counterparts, yes I m speaking of the cagers. We are blessed each time we throw our legs over our machines and open up the throttle to explore our surroundings. Let s not forget, that with freedom, comes responsibilities. We re all familiar with the term double check and as bikers we should practice it on every occasion. Safety is a discipline and it is not to be taken lightly. Seldom are we the beneficiary of a second chance when it comes to trials we find on our machines. Learn and practice the art of "double-check. Before you hit the road in the morning have you double-checked your bike, ensuring it is safe for both you and your passenger? When making a turn at speed did you take a moment to double-check that it is free of gravel or potholes? Take a moment and double-check before you switch lanes. In group riding we all rely on each other to travel in a safe manner, this is why our road captains take the time to review hand signals, and doubles-checks each move the group takes. We have many opportunities to take the necessary time to perform our double checks, so don t miss out on your next double-check, it just might make all the difference! Let s be safe out there! Bob Clampit Safety Officer Greengs from your Head Road Captain Hope everyone is out there pung miles on their Harleys, I know that I am. It is great to be back riding with a variety of members from the chapter. As I write this newsle"er arcle, I am drying out from Bill Foster s Ride (a"empted ride) to The Cave of the Mounds. We put 1,015 combined miles for seven bikes but were thwarted from geng to the caves by rain and lightening. Since the picnic ride we have also had Paul s Cheese ride, a Friday fish fry ride and opportunies through Ukes for charity rides. In regards to the Rider s Cup, keep hing those stampbook stops and a"ending the rides. I will be leading rides to Frank s Diner, my favorite place and at least one other ride in the near future. Keep checking Facebook and the calendar for chances to ride. And as always, feel free to send me ideas for rides, quesons, pictures and concerns. Gym (847)217-3552 gymfwy@comcast.net 4

Dear KHOG members! As was announced at the picnic, I'll be leaving Kenosha soon. The particular mix of feelings is nearly indescribable. Sadness and joy, anticipation and trepidation, endings and new beginnings, courage and fear. I've been asked if it scares me, and it most certainly does. This is a huge undertaking, and I'm afraid I won't be able to handle some challenges. In a way it's like the first time I rode a motorcycle. My first experience was at a very young age, an AMF sportie and some very sketchy guidance. I was scared to death! But I did great, and it was one of the most fun experiences of my life... Life changing, for sure. When I first joined the HOG Chapter, I felt a lot like this, too. I didn't know any of those scary biker folks, and would I fit in? Is anyone even going to notice me, or at they just going to ignore me as the new guy? Would I make friends or would it just be another thing I tried? I can tell you two things for sure that I've learned at KHOG: (1) Don't let your fears stop you from trying something new, and (2) It's going to turn out great. You just might have the most fun of your life, perhaps even life changing! My first experience with KHOG was meet with openness, support, and sincere friendship. Chef Paul showed me the ropes, Moses made sure I had fun, and then Director John Tierney invited me to be seated with him at dinner. When I became a road captain Bob Evans was sure to yell at me like anybody else. And people started to recognize me at rides and events, and ask about me if I missed one. Clearly I had found more than just ordinary friends...i found KHOG. So yes, I have fears about this next chapter of my life. Guess I should know by now that means it's going to turn out great. And as someone said at the picnic meeting, you all have a new destination! I've already joined Biggs Chapter in North San Diego County. I was greeted with open arms, and you will too. And although I'll be missing my Chapter, I'll be back, and I hope you'll find your way out for a visit. I'll have guest rooms.. Thanks to each and every one of your for your love and support!
