Your Financial Stewardship For the week ended April 17, 2016 Weekly Joyful Giving Envelopes... $ 17,619.00 Offertory Collectio...... $ 1,157.00 Debt Collection...... $ 4,659.00 Budgeted Weekly Joyful Giving $23,500 A word of thanks to those who were able to respond to my invitation to help reach our goal for the Bishop s Appeal. We are almost there. The Bishop s Appeal is quite a hefty target every year. With all of us who discern a yes we can reach our goal. We are a very generous parish. Many of us support all types of charities and the Bishop s Appeal is one of our more local and targeted works of mercy. At the time of this writing we are at $90,000 toward our $97,000 goal. Every cupful helps to fill the bucket. If you had to pass on the Bishop s Appeal this year, I thank you for your prayerful consideration and discernment. A discerned response is the best response. Thank you. The First Communions we celebrated last week were beautiful. St. Bernard had 79 students receive First Communion. We could never have done them all at one Mass. Having our families choose where they wanted to attend was a great tactic and served to keep everyone calm and comfortable. This weekend we celebrate our last First Communion Mass at a special 1 pm Mass. It was especially wonderful to have children at all four Masses this year. It gives us all a chance to reflect on the beauty of both receiving Jesus and offering Jesus in the Mass. The great holy exchange of gifts that was the center of our reflections these past two weeks. Sunday June 5, will be our parish 60 th Anniversary Celebration. We will be having a special dedication ceremony renaming our Multi-Purpose Room after Bishop Mark Schmitt, our second Pastor. The Parish Council approved this idea with good support. There will be a picture of Bishop Mark that will hang in this room to help honor his memory. He was a wonderful man who went on to be the Bishop of Marquette, Michigan. The day will also include a Champagne Brunch out at UWGB complete with a simple presentation, silent auction, raffle, fellowship and just a beautiful Sunday afternoon, rain or shine. We are working on a golf scramble for those interested, to follow the Brunch. It should be a really nice Sunday afternoon. If you could mark this event down on your calendar, that would be fantastic. Masses that day are at 8:00 am and 6:30 pm, with the dedication Mass being be at 9:30 am, followed by the celebration at the Union at the UWGB campus. I look forward to you joining me. It is a short convenient drive and maps will be provided for those who need them. Tickets will be going on sale, so please, please, please, take the time to purchase them in advance so we can provide an appropriate amount of food and programs. Thank you for being a part of this celebration, especially our charter members! You are fantastic. Thank you for settling our beautiful parish. Fr. Mark Vander Steeg
