(Titus 2:1) Last week s Challenge focused on not only knowing the truth of God s Word, but allowing it to have an effect on our lives - namely, godliness - well-directed reverence. Paul goes on to encourage Titus that his teaching must accord or be distinguished by sound doctrine. Most wouldn t argue that if we are going to expose ourselves to teaching, that it should be sound in doctrine. Sound is defined as pure and uncorrupted. But last week s challenge got me thinking about the effects of sound doctrine. Just being exposed to sound doctrine isn t enough if it doesn t result in sound living. What we hear must be met with action or we fall into what James refers to in James 1:22-25, but be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing. This Sunday we ll be encouraged through the book of Titus to allow what we hear through the truth of God s Word to affect our character and our actions as we humble ourselves before God and allow Him to affect change in our lives as we surrender them to His Holy Spirit. We ll also see how the Lord used our giving last year to build His kingdom as we do our 2018 in Review at the end of the service. See you then! January 27th, 2019 As we settle into our new home on Sundays we want everyone to know that we are in the process of working out all of the logistics that comes with moving, and in our day, providing safety for everyone, especially our children in their classes. It is also a priority to enjoy building relationships with one another, and most of all- worshiping Jesus in Spirit and in Truth. Thank you to everyone for your patience and input. Please pray for our leaders to have wisdom and discernment to know God s best for us in our new location. Thank you to everyone who generously donated a blanket for the Cold Night Shelter at His Place in Melbourne. And, thank you to Charlene Bauchiero for lovingly delivering them this week. January 27th, 2019 Email Prayer Ministry Update Thank you to each of you who currently serve on our Email Prayer Team. For 31/2 years you have prayed faithfully, in one accord for those in our church family and beyond who have reached out for prayer or praise. We have witnessed God s amazing grace and faithfulness together many times! If you would like to join together with us in prayer but are not currently serving, please contact jimbethandkids@hotmail.com If for any reason you no longer are led to serve in this ministry, please also let Beth know. And, thank you to Beth as she lovingly receives the oversight of this ministry from Marie. If you have a request, please contact Beth and she will send out your request.
