Sister Deaidra Wilson, GAM said the minutes should reflect that she carried the motion to accept the Grand Worthy Matron's Address and not the GWP. 3. PGWM Marilyn Moore wants the minutes to reflect that a copy of the GWM's Recommendations and Directives was distributed to the members. Corrections were noted and motion carried; minutes were approved by the sound of the gavel in the East. Receiving of GWM Rubye B. Meeks (TN) GWM Meeks was received and escorted to the East. After little discussion regarding his right to appoint the GWP, MWGM Jones asked how many Brothers in the room have been considered for the office of Grand Worthy Patron? PGWM Vashti Grimes Pullen rose to say "In her opinion we have Brothers that are already in here who are eligible to hold that position". She then proposed the name of Brother Sam McDonald for Grand Worthy Patron. MWGM Jones posed a series of questions to Brother McDonald about his ability to report to him directly with matters relating to the Grand Chapter. Standing steadfast, Brother McDonald answered each time saying "First, he's a Master Mason however if anything should come up in the Grand Chapter he would work with the Grand Matron to rectify it and if they're unable to resolve matters then it would be brought to the Grand Master's attention". The Sisters overwhelmingly applauded Brother McDonald's response. The MWGM appointed Brother Sam McDonald to serve as the 10th Grand Worthy Patron. The office of Grand Associate Patron was opened for consideration as follows: Sister Joyce Gilchrist, GAC submitted the name of Brother Anthony Singleton for consideration. Sister Katrina Williams (146) submitted Brother Victor Lee for consideration. The MWGM stated Brother Lee wasn't eligible as he is not a Past Master. Sister Lula Harris, PDWM No.5 submitted Brother Cecil James' name for consideration. Brother MacArthur Walton's name was submitted by Sister Theresa Lurk. MWGM allowed the three names submitted to be voted on by the membership; results were as follows: Brother Singleton - 63 votes Brother James - 159 votes; leaving 65 to be cast for Brother Walton. MWGM Jones declaring the remaining votes weren't enough to make a difference so he appointed Brother Cecil James as the Grand Associate Patron. MWGM Jones installed the Officers and exited the Grand Chapter Room as the Grand Choir and members joyfully sung "Oh Happy Day". Brother McDonald thanked the Sisters for their confidence in him to serve this Grand Chapter. He promised to serve to the best of his ability and vowed not to let us down. Brother James also thanked the members for their trust in him to serve as Grand Associate Patron. He further stated it was an honor that he wasn't expecting and he also promised to work to the best of ability to serve the Grand Chapter. GWM Hymes thanked everyone for allowing her to serve the Grand Chapter. She then reported the Grand Lodge sent a check to Sister Michelle Darmon in the amount of $1,100.00 in support of her kidney transplant.
