January 2019 * Volume 25 * Issue 01 January 1-21 2019 The Year of Harvest Grace While Waiting Zion Hill News & Events

MESSAGE FROM THE PASTOR Again, I say Happy New Year to you and your family. I am excited about what God is going to do for you and through you in this new year. I pray that whatever you touch and whatever you go after this year shall prosper. Amen! In this first month of the year, I will like to set the tone for what I am hoping will happen in our Church. I must admit that I have been thinking a lot about that subject and through prayers and meditation I have heard very clearly concerning the year. Below, please find a brief summary of what our mission goal is for this year. First, let me simply spit out the keywords that are ringing in my spirit. The list includes: Spirituality Prayers Harvests Structure Organization Discipline Accountability Stewardship Communication Small groups Worship Projects Fun Revelations Growth Each of these words means something in the life of our Church. It is a list of what I would like to see happen this year. I am not suggesting that we are not doing any of these things now, but I would like for our Church to do better in each of these area. At the end of 2019, I would like to look back and see that we as a Church have improved significantly in these areas. Now, let me briefly mention what I had in mind concerning each of the above listed items.

Spirituality: I would like for our Church to be more spiritual this year. Prayers: I would like for our Church to be more prayerful both individually and collectively. Too many people are taking God for granted in our nation. We must always remember and celebrate how far God has brought us as a people. The key to our continued survival shall be prayers. I will like to see more people involved in our Church prayer meetings. Harvests: By permission of the Holy Spirit, the year 2019 shall be the Year of The Harvest. I will spend a great deal of time throughout the year teaching and coaching God s people about the harvest. So, tune in. Structure: We will continue to revamp our church structure as we grow. It is not uncommon for many organizations be it for profit or non profit to revamp their organization to sustain their growth. Organization: We are blessed and we are getting better in many areas. We just need to get better organized. The same is true for the entire Body of Christ. Discipline: This year, we have to become more disciplined in many areas. A good soldier must be disciplined. Accountability: Watch out, everyone will be held more accountable this year. Stewardship: The heart of God is that we become better stewards of God s blessings to Zion Hill. This year, I am declaring war on the spirit of waste. Communication: We must continue to improve upon our group communication. It is better than before but it can be much better for the glory of God. Small Group: We will focus more of our attention on the small groups of our church as the backbone of the Church. Worship: Our worship services are good but we will make it much better this year by the grace of God. Projects: Every year, our church embark on a project or two. This year will not be an exception. Fun: Yes, believe it or not, I would like for our Church to have more fun. Revelation: I am believing God for more revelation and better understanding of the word of God this year. Growth: Evangelism is the heartbeat of God for every Church. This year, I expect our church to continue to grow both spiritually and physically. Thank you for believing God with me and the Zion Hill Church Family. Thank you for your prayers and your continued support. I remain strongly convinced that together, we can make our world a better place by the grace of God. Yours in Christ, Joshua Joy Dara, Pastor

Theme: A Call to Praise and Worship GOD O come, let us sing to The Lord; let us worship and bow down, let us kneel before The Lord our maker! For He is our God and we are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand (Psalm 95:1a, 6-7) Devotional Message: Worship Is A Lifestyle (John 4:23). The teacher for the Devotional Message was Deaconess Topic: How Do We Approach Worship (Luke 18:11-21). The teacher for the Topic was Sister Girthirine Williams. After the discussions, we enjoyed a delicious birthday meal given for the mission members who celebrated birthdays in the last three months. Our annual service project for this season was to provide a nursing facility with gifts through our " Socks for Seniors " program. The socks are purchased by each member of the mission. This year's recipients were the patients at Hilltop Nursing Home. They were presented two hundred and eight (208) pairs of socks. Our special guest was Sister Carolyn Sue Clarkston who was requested to take pictures for the Zion Hill Newsletter. Please join us on Mondays at 11:00 a.m. for Senior Mission. On Monday after the 4th Sunday we meet in the home of Sister Shirley Aaron. For additional information, contact any mission member. Deaconess Patricia Hudson, President
