There s a wide variety in the programme this year, including a symposium on the Reformation and Thinking Allowed It is recommended to book for the Symposium which will be held on Friday, 9th June, from 2.00pm, chaired by Archbishop Michael Jackson) consists of two papers and a discussion. Prof. Tony Lane will open the proceedings with a discussion of the agreed statement on justification, signed by the World Lutheran Federation and the Roman Catholic Church. The second paper, by Prof Salvador Ryan, asks the question How should we remember the Reformation? The Thinking Allowed event, also on Friday 9 th at 7.30 pm, offers again reflections, this time from four different traditions. They will all respond to one question: Is the Reformation over? All details are on www.bibleweek.ie Fruits of the Spirit: Prepare for Pentecost in the beautiful surroundings of the Chapel of the Monastery of St. Alphonsus on Monday 22 May at 8.00 p.m. when a prayer service on the Fruits of the Spirit will take place. Music will be led by the Dublin Diocesan Music Group in this imaginative and reflective experience. Synod on Youth. Parishes are invited to host local listening to youth events to help prepare for the Synod of Bishops on Young People 2019. Every Diocese, Parish and young people s groups have been asked to consider a series of questions. Resources are available online for parishes to organise and reach out to all young people in their area. During April, a national survey The Big April Ask was held. Old Angels Memory Garden: This special Blessing of Remembrance organised by A Little Lifetime Foundation for the 28th May 2017 at 3.00pm is for all parents, family members and friends whose baby is buried in Glasnevin Cememtery, whether through miscarriage, stillbirth, cot death or a baby who died shortly after birth. We extend a warm invitation to families whose baby is buried in other cemeteries and hope that they will find some comfort in coming together to remember their baby in a special way. Brendan Purcell who will explore some of the challenges contemporary Ireland is facing and lead us in a reflection on some aspects of the darkness of our times. He has written I have no glib solution to offer, but others who have travelled that path can lead us towards a few hilltops where we can see a little further ahead, if not beyond our suffering, at least towards a horizon from where it may become a little more bearable.
