ADORATION CHAPEL The Perpetual (24 hours) Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is available to us at Mercy Regional Hospital Chapel. If you are interested in becoming a regularly scheduled adorer or a substitute adorer, please phone 337-363- 4533 for more information. As Bishop Fulton J. Sheen called it The Hour of Power! We are in need of adorers for the following times: Saturday morning at 1:00am Every other Saturday at 8:00pm Friday evening at 6:00pm UPCOMING CCD CLASSES: Elementary CCD- November 14th High school CCD- November 15th SUNDAY: 5 NOVEMBER: 31ST SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME FROM THE PASTOR Dear Parishioners, Today we begin National Vocation Awareness Week in which we focus on vocations to the priesthood and the consecrated life. Jesus said to pray for the harvest master to send out laborers in the fields so let us constantly pray for that gift. The other way is to encourage vocations among our young people. Let them know that this is a gift from God and a blessing for the family. We have been blessed in our diocese with many native vocations and next year we may have 7 ordained for the 100th anniversary of the Diocese of Lafayette! Thanks be to God. The new crosses are up at Belaire Cove Chapel. They were blessed on October 31st, the vigil of All Saints and the 500th Anniversary of the Protestant Reformation. May the cross of Jesus be what unites us together and makes us saints. Don t forget that today Daylight Savings Time ends. We fall backward one hour, which gives us an extra hour of sleep. This is the good one because people will be an hour early for Mass instead of an hour late. So please spread the word. There may still be some spots open for the Men s ACTS Retreat if not you can get on the waiting list because cancelations do happen. Get a registration form online on our website or come by the rectory. Saturday, November 11th at 10:00am at the Cathedral there will be a special Mass by our Bishop for those who have lost family members through suicide. If you call in advance they will have their name memorialized in some special way. Please call (337)261-5653. Sincerely in Christ, Fr. Thomas Voorhies Fr. Tom s Joke of the Week My Protestant clergy friend was speaking with a Catholic priest and wanted to establish a solid friendship. He spoke of many things and felt it was going well, but in an instant he undid all the good he d done: He asked if Father Paddy s father had been a priest, too.
