Harbor Light Pcph.org Presbyterian Church of Palm Harbor November 2017 Dear Friends, Reflections from Pastor Bruce As I write, the first cold front of the season has made its way to us. I ve got the window in my study open and am delighting in the cool breezes as well as some of the Growing Tree children who are outside practicing for the Noah s Ark Parade. I see the sun dancing off the roof across the way and the branches on the trees sway to the winds God sends. All these amazing gifts God gives us! How shall we respond? Well, as biblical Presbyterians, our response to all of God s goodness is gratitude. We re thankful to God for every facet of life with our lives. Paul says it this way in Romans: I appeal to you therefore, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship (12:1). Stewardship is one of the ways we present our lives of thanksgiving to God. We remember and live out that we are God s and nothing and no-one can separate us from God s steadfast and eternal love in Jesus Christ our Lord. Stewardship Sunday November 19 is just around the corner. You ll be hearing more on Sunday mornings, from a letter in your mailbox arriving next week or in the upcoming weekly bulletins and eblasts. We pray and ask you to consider prayerfully your financial gift(s) for 2018, and in advance say thank you. Grace and peace in Christ Jesus to you all, Pastor Bruce A Safe Harbor where the Light of Christ Jesus directs all who are adrift to anchor themselves in Him. November 2017 Creating Connections Through Christ Page 2 Quilting for Comfort Quilting continues this Fall at 10:00am on Tuesdays in the create and share room (104). We welcome everyone to come join us as we begin to plan for the 2018 graduating class. Experience or no experience, come join the fun. PCPH Women s Missions As a reminder of the PCPH Women's Missions, the Coordinating Team is once again asking your support for greatly needed non-food items for F.E.A.S.T. Many of the requested items are those that cannot be purchased with food stamps. As previously suggested, you can purchase many of these items at Dollar General or Dollar Tree at a nominal cost. For the month of November we are asking for shampoo and laundry detergent. Create and Share Create and Share has always been an outreach ministry of Presbyterian Women. Over the past 32 years there has been a dedicated group of women to make book bags and collect school supplies, make ditty bags and fill them with hygiene items, knit and crochet blankets, hats and booties, and sew layette sets. Additional items made and provided to various members and organizations have included knit hats for the homeless, walker totes, adult bibs, lap robes, caps for cancer patients, quilts, baby blankets, changing pads and children/adult hand-made clothing. There has also been a very supportive and giving congregation. Participation at PCPH has dwindled to three or four women, so we have decided to discontinue meeting at the end of the year. If there is someone who feels that this ministry is something they would like to continue at this church, please contact Mary Schutjer for more information.

November 2017 Creating Connections Through Christ Page 6 Church Library News The library committee usually meets the first & third Tuesdays of each month from 10:00 to 12:00. Although recently we may not have been there as often as we would like, work on getting books ready for shelving continues. Non-fiction books are researched on an outside, on-line library site which often provides us with the correct Dewey Decimal System number. File cards, book pockets & book pocket cards are currently being typed on a computer, printed and then cut & pasted on the cards & pockets. This is more time consuming than using a typewriter, but has the added advantage that the work can be done outside the library. If you have any interest in joining the library committee, please call Ginny Branchfield at 727-786-6480. November 2017 Creating Connections Through Christ Page 12 THANK YOU! Yet again, another year of pumpkin patch has come and gone. The youth ministry of PCPH is always so thankful for our church community, and all who put the effort in to make this year s pumpkin patch a huge success. All proceeds of the pumpkin patch will help offset the cost of youth group outings, and summer mission trips. Thanks again to our fearless leader Yvette Doukas for being the front runner in all things pumpkins. Thanks again! Youth Ministry of PCPH
