Family Prayer L oving and faithful God, through the years the people of our archdiocese have appreciated the prayers and love of Our Lady of Prompt Succor in times of war, disaster, epidemic and illness. We come to you, Father, with Mary our Mother, and ask you to help us in the battle of today against violence, murder and racism. We implore you to give us your wisdom that we may build a community founded on the values of Jesus, which gives respect to the life and dignity of all people. Bless parents that they may form their children in faith. Bless and protect our youth that they may be peacemakers of our time. Give consolation to those who have lost loved ones through violence. Hear our prayer and give us the perseverance to be a voice for life and human dignity in our community. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Our Lady of Prompt Succor, hasten to help us. Mother Henriette Delille, pray for us that we may be a holy family. Insert lyrics here God is rich in mercy... Ephesians 2:4

Divine Mercy Parish Page 8 Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news of him spread throughout the whole region. He taught in their synagogues and was praised by all. Luke 4: 14-15 Jesus, fresh from His desert retreat during which He defeated Satan and riding a wave of popularity gained from His teachings and miracles which He performed in Capernaum, goes to His hometown Nazareth, and filled with the Holy Spirit He opens the scroll of Isaiah and reads the prophecy of His coming. He concludes, Today this scripture passage is fulfilled in your hearing. St. Luke tells us that the people there were initially very impressed but soon began to doubt His authenticity and chased Him out of the town and tried to kill Him. Jesus always brings us love, however we are free to accept or reject Him by doubting His promises. Let us ask the Holy Spirit to give us the wisdom to trust Jesus by opening our hearts and letting Him heal all our wounds. Unfortunately sometimes our relationships can become more of a burden than a blessing. Tonight we look at four virtues, and how they can help strengthen our relationships--including our relationship with Jesus! A faithful friend is a sturdy shelter; he who finds one finds a treasure. Sir 6:14 No Life Night Next Weekend! LIFE TEEN meets on Sundays after 6pm Mass until 8:45 PM in the Community Center. Jan 29 Everlasting At this night we will look of the four marks of the Church; One, Holy, Catholic, & Apostolic. The Church is united as one. The Church is holy because Jesus is holy. The Church is Catholic and recognizes the goodness of and some similarities with other religions, but holds that the fullness of the truth remains in the Catholic Church. The Church is apostolic because it was founded on the apostles. Feb 5 Social Night A night to build community and fellowship in Christ. Edge meets on Tuesdays from 6:30pm-7:45pm at SEAS. In today s Gospel (LK 1:1-4; 414-21), Jesus reads scripture in the synagogue. The St. Joseph Missal says, Jesus entered the synagogue according to His custom. Hence, besides healing and expelling demons, Jesus took time for regular worship. At LIFE TEEN and Edge, we try to act like Jesus and find worship important, as the St. Joseph Missal states. After the LIFE TEEN Mass (6pm), join us for our Life Night as we learn to recognize healthy relationships with others. We will also be challenged to accompany one another in truth and virtuous deeds, while discussing the cardinal virtues as an essential element of all healthy relationships. God is rich in mercy... I love You above all things, and I long for You in my soul. Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. As though You have already come, I embrace You and unite myself entirely to You; never permit me to be separated from You.
