I T I N E R A R Y November 12-15, 2018 Among the various features of the Monastery, the Church of the Transfiguration is the most recognizable. Here, visitors can see monks tending a coffee plantation and singing Gregorian chants in the spirit and letter of the Benedictine rule of ora et labore (prayer and labor). Visit the chapel of the monastery, a national treasure and designed by the late National Artist, Leandro Locsin. The chapel has a pagan motif - Egyptian - that is restrained and minimalist, but infused with the baroque splendor of the artistic but prayerful soul. At the altar is an image of Our Lady of Guadalupe donated by the Benedictine monks of Spain. This is surely one place where spirituality abounds, magnified by the transcendence of art. Mass to be arranged for the group. Aside from living a silent life of continued prayer and missionary work, Benedictine Monks are known for their Monks Blend Premium Coffee, Monks Peanut Butter, roasted peanuts, and peanut brittle called Piniato widely sold in the different parts of Mindanao. Return to Dahilayan in time for your buffet dinner and fellowship night. (B,L,D) DAHILAYAN DEL MONTE DAHILAYAN. The wooden cross which stands today in the front of the cathedral, was erected in 1888. Archbishop James Hayes, SJ, in 1946 rebuilt the Cathedral and the Convent until 1946.
