33rd Sunday In Ordinary Time November 18, 2018 FR. PHIL Happy Thanksgiving: May this coming Thanksgiving Day and the start of the Holiday Season bring great thanks and joy to all of us as we focus upon all the people and for all that we give thanks to God. Cra Fair: Thank you to all who worked to make the Cra Fair of November 10th such a wonderful event. Thank you. Reflec ons on Readings for 33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time: We know that the Lord will not abandon us. Where do we find hope? The heavens tell of the glory of God. We are rapidly coming to the end of another liturgical year. Today s Gospel asks us to look at the me when we will meet the Lord at the end of our lives or at the end of the world. How happy or sa sfied will we be at that moment with the quality of our love and service at the end of our life? We have a second chance now to prepare for that hour. Will we try to make the effort to love and serve as Jesus did? As Chris ans our lives are rooted in the hopes of a be er world and that be er days are coming. Do we see God s love in the mystery of life, in the mystery of pain and tragedy? The second coming of Jesus must be seen as our greatest hope for a remedy to all of the ills and pain and all that is wrong with the world. We know that God will not be outdone in showing His love for us as He leads us home to eternal life with Him. Life on earth is a prepara on for eternal life. How do we use who we are and what we have, to build up the common good of all? How do we see the glory of God in each other? November Praying for All Deceased: November is tradi onally the month we remember our deceased loved ones in a special way. As we pray and remember our loved ones may we pray for those who have no one to pray for them and may we remember those who are alone this coming holiday season. Some mes a li le kindness and encouragement can make a big difference to someone who has lost a loved one. 4 SPIRITUAL EXERCISES OF SAINT IGNATIUS LOYOLA An Invita on to Meet Christ in Prayer: The Spiritual Exercises of Saint Igna us in Every Day Life (the 19th Annota on Retreat) is available for Catholic adults in a group se ng over the course of twentyfour weeks.
