PASTOR LYNN W. BEANUMB EANUM,, JR. J 5756 Zachary Taylor Highway Mineral, Virginia 23117 (540) 894-4458 (phone) (540) 894-5955 (fax) Volume 31, Issue 2 January 1, 2011 LET S GO TO MATURITY THIS YEAR Pastor Lynn W. Beanum reetings in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, the captain of salvation, and soon-coming King. We gladly give thanks to Him, for allowing us to come into a New Year, with new challenges and opportunities to right all our shortcomings from last year. We now have more mercy and grace to amend our relationships with God and our fellowman, leaving everything that's not like God in last year. For the coming of the Lord is nearer now than it was last year. Now is the right time to leave the elementary teaching about the doctrine of Jesus Christ, and go on to maturity this year; not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death, and of faith in God, instruction about baptism, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. And God permitting, we will do so. Mature Christians should be teaching new Christians the basics. Then, acting on what they know, the mature will learn even more from God's word. Rather than arguing about the Scriptures, we need to depend on Christ and live effectively for him (Heb.6:1-2). Commitment is an essential part of our faith; we cannot be a Christian simply by affirming the right doctrines or agreeing with the biblical facts. We must commit our mind and heart to Christ. Right actions are the natural by -products of true faith. A genuine Christian will have a changed life. Faith without deeds doesn't do anyone any good it is useless. James's teachings are consistent with Paul's teaching that we receive salvation by faith alone. aul emphasizes the purpose of faith is to bring salvation. James emphasizes the results of faith: a changed life. He condemns acts of favoritism. Often we treat a well-dressed, impressive-looking person better than someone who looks shabby. We do this because we would rather identify with successful people than with apparent failures. The irony, as James put it, is these supposed winners may have gained their impressive lifestyle at our expense. They find it difficult to identify with the Lord Jesus who came as an humble servant. Are you easily impressed by status, wealth, or fame? Are you partial to "the haves" while ignoring the "have-nots"? This attitude is sinful. God views all people as equals, and if He favors anyone, it's the poor and the powerless (James 2:1-2). Let's follow God's example this year and receive more fresh oil of His anointing to break every yoke of Satan is my prayer this year as never before...amen. Verse for the Month Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you. (II Corinthians 13:11)

Reflections on 2010, Plans to Do Better in 2011 Sister Deborah Adams, Editor ear Friends, As I sit here thinking about the new year, I am reminded of the many lessons the Lord taught me through my experiences this past year. As I was putting together a puzzle, the Lord spoke to my heart that this is the way it is with our lives. Sometimes we have many pieces of our lives scattered about. We need Him to help us to put the pieces together properly. When they all fit together, He can overshadow us with the blessings He has planned for us ( For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future Jer. 29:11 NIV). When my mother had surgery last month, the peace of God came over me like a glove fits a hand, and the Lord taught me that sometimes He speaks to us by giving us peace about a situation that is about to occur ( And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus, Phil. 4:7). I received a Christmas card in my email with an illustration of Santa Claus coming down the chimney and numerous presents falling in behind him. Even through this illustration, the Lord taught me that is the way He wants to bless us, with blessings poured out and overflowing ( And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, See Deut. 28:1-14). I took time to inventory my life this past year, how I handled the many situations that confronted me. I passed some tests; and I failed some tests. I encourage you to take time to reflect on the past year. Think of the many lessons learned through everyday experiences. Think of how your walk with the Lord has been, how you have treated people, how you conducted yourself on your job or in school, what you liked about yourself in 2010, and what you did not like about yourself. Did I love unconditionally? Did I forgive? Did I pray and fast regularly? Did I thank God in spite of everything I went through? Reflect on 2010, and then Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. God is doing a new thing! (Is. 43:16) Reflect, and then plan to do better. The year is gone, finished, past. We cannot reclaim it or undo it. If tomorrow dawns, it will bring new opportunities. Let's move forward, knowing that God already inhabits the future. May God help us to learn from our mistakes but not dwell on them, and not rest on our accomplishments in this past year, but use them to further His work through us. Let us not quarrel with those who injured us last year. Can we allow the LORD to lead us in His paths and help us see His mighty works this new year? Happy New Year with Love, Sister Debbie Just One Request --Unknown Author A Word from Our Elders Dear Master for this coming year Just one request I bring: I do not pray for happiness, Or any earthly thing I do not ask to understand The way You lead me, But this I ask: Teach me to do The thing that pleases You. I want to know Your guiding voice, To walk with You each day. Dear Master make me swift to hear And ready to obey. And thus the year I now begin A happy year will be If I am seeking just to do The thing that pleases You. Ready for a New Year By Deacon Matthew Pendleton reetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Happy New Year and we do hope that you had joyful holidays. Just think back; it has been ten years since the year two thousand came in, when many had anxiety as to whether or not the world would come to an end. Some thought the rapture would have taken place; others thought we would be in The Great Tribulation Period. But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my father only (Matthew 24:36). Ringing in the New Year is a celebration of newness. It is a time of renewal. Let s strive to make this year a better year than last year by reflecting on the past year. Did you accomplish all that you had set out to do? If you didn t, set out to complete those tasks if you can, but let s not dwell on them. Prepare to welcome a new year in your life with joy and wonderment, not dread of things yet left undone. Setting new goals will give you even more to look forward to in this year, and undoubtedly take a huge weight off your shoulders. Preparation to leave this world that is destined for destruction is imperative! The way out is not a vehicle designed by the minds of men, but a plan of God. Let s use this year to prepare to be ready to meet our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. God bless. Again, Happy New Year! Deacon Matthew Christian New Year s Resolutions How can I use the New Year To better serve my Lord? I ll read my Bible every day, And be more in accord. I ll find new ways to serve others; I ll love my neighbor, too. I ll focus on "give" instead of "get" In everything I do. I ll forgive the people I m mad at; Angry feelings I ll discard; I ll try to love my enemies, Even though it s hard. In the new year, I ll lift people up, Instead of putting them down. By Joanna Fuchs I ll fill my heart with love and joy, And never wear a frown. I ll let go of my worries; I ll put it all in His hands; I ll repent and try to sin less, And obey all His commands. These new year s resolutions Are difficult, at best, But there s something I can do each day That will put my soul at rest: I ll love my Lord with all my heart, With all my mind and soul, And if I do that essential thing, All the rest will be in control. New Year Resolutions By Sister Lynetta Watkins It s that time of the year when we all start thinking about New Year resolutions...losing weight, exercise and maybe working harder. For this year, let our resolution be to pray continually, read our Bibles daily, and fast weekly, so that we can keep more of a spiritual focus than a natural focus. Times are getting closer to the coming of the Lord and we need to be His example. Let this be the year of WWJD in our thinking and talking, and continue to keep God first and seek Him always. Happy New Year! Love, Sis. Lynetta Page 4 Temple of Deliverance HCG, Inc., Newsletter

Laugh More in the New Year! For the Lord will not cast off forever: But though he cause grief, yet will he have compassion according to the multitude of his mercies. (Lamentations 3:31-32 KJV) The joy of the LORD is your strength (Neh. 8:10 NIV). When you are a caregiver, laughter becomes essential to your survival. Doctors have studied the effects of laughter on the immune system and discovered that laughing lowers blood pressure, boosts immune function, produces a general sense of well-being, and reduces stress hormones. Laughing also triggers the release of endorphins, the body s natural painkillers. With all these positive results from laughter, it is not surprising that God mentions laughter so many times in the Bible. Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations, The LORD has done great things for them (Psalm 126:2 NIV). Not many have faced as much adversity as Job. However, even in the book of Job, the LORD speaks of laughter: He will yet fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy (Job 8:21). Maybe this year you will commit to laughing more. Rent a funny movie and check out a funny book from the library. Ask God to show you the laughter in those situations that would otherwise get you down. I find myself laughing a lot, because I have discovered how much better I feel after a good laugh. You may have to find a friend who will call you to share funny stories with you when you really need to laugh. Thank You, Father, for caring about me and wanting me to laugh. Thank You for making laughter so good for my soul and my body! If you know a caregiver who may need some support... reach out and give it to them. They need care as much as the person they care for does, because caregiving takes a toll on a person s energy physically, emotionally and spiritually. Thank you! WORD SEARCH Enemy is Defeated and Overcome: I John 4:1-6 AMP BELOVED, DO not put faith in every spirit, but prove (test) the spirits to discover whether they proceed from God; for many false prophets have gone forth into the world. By this you may know (perceive and recognize) the Spirit of God: every spirit which acknowledges and confesses [the fact] that Jesus Christ (the Messiah) [actually] has become man and has come in the flesh is of God [has God for its source]; And every spirit which does not acknowledge and confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh [but would annul, destroy, sever, disunite Him] is not of God [does not proceed from Him]. This [nonconfession] is the [spirit] of the antichrist, [of] which you heard that it was coming, and now it is already in the world. Little children, you are of God [you belong to Him] and have [already] defeated and overcome them [the agents of the antichrist], because He Who lives in you is greater (mightier) than he who is in the world. They proceed from the world and are of the world; therefore it is out of the world [its whole economy morally considered] that they speak, and the world listens (pays attention) to them. We are [children] of God. Whoever is learning to know God [progressively to perceive, recognize, and understand God by observation and experience, and to get an ever-clearer knowledge of Him] listens to us; and he who is not of God does not listen or pay attention to us. By this we know (recognize) the Spirit of Truth and the spirit of error.
