Dear Friends of First United Methodist Church, Thank you for making a gift to the Oklahoma United Methodist Pastor Education Endowment Fund. Please accept my deepest appreciation for this important action you have taken. Grace and Peace. Sincerely, Bill Junk Oklahoma United Methodist Foundation Wrapped in Grace Report There are not enough words for how much this event touched my life and all those who were involved! Wrapped in Grace was a small project that blossomed into an event that changed lives especially mine. I am so honored to be a part of the United Methodist Women and a part of this church! When something needs to be done, UM ladies step forward and take care of it! We were so blessed to have Leisha Powelson as a part of the Wrapped in Grace Team! She loved on us, supported us, and gave 110% of herself to this event. Thank you, Leisha. Thank you to everyone who came and volunteered their time, energy, prayers, and clothes. You were an integral part of making everything so successful. A special Thank You to the Connexion Praise and Worship Band for giving of their time on Saturday to play for our worship service. As usual, they were incredible and so wonderfully talented! Some fun facts for you: On Friday evening, over 50 women came in and received clothes, haircuts/styles, facials, and massages. Over $1,350 worth of Grace was given! On Saturday morning, we collected $365 dollars in our love offering during our worship service and our profit for the Saturday consignment sale was $1,640! Lenten Lunches 12 NOON every Tuesday during Lent Stephens United Methodist Church Rev. Dr. Greg Tolle will be the speaker Palm Sunday April 13 Maundy Thursday Choir Cantata Testimony of Life by Joseph Martin April 17-7pm Easter Sunday April 20 THANK YOU - To everyone that helped with the John 6:35 dinner at the WELL. If you greeted the people, cooked the pancakes and sausage, served drinks, delivered meals to Elm Terrace Apartments, cleaned up afterwards, etc, - you were greatly appreciated. Thank you to the Young Adult Class for being in charge of the meal arrangements. They Came, We Served, They Received, We Were Blessed!

from the One of the questions that church consultants have churches ask for self-evaluation is If your church ceased to exist would your community notice? The question really deals with the impact and presence a church makes in the community. Obviously, TOLLEHOUSE a no answer to the question is not desirable. Well, for our church, I would say that this past weekend our church would garner a very favorable response to the question. Friday night we had several people led by the Young(?) Adult Sunday School class serve the hungry in our community at the John 6:35 meal at the Well. There were 277 meals served and plenty of help. Meanwhile, at the church, our UMW was co-leading Wrapped in Grace where over 50 ladies from our community, who could use a little TLC, experienced makeovers including free consignment clothing. On Saturday, Wrapped in Grace extended to worship and a fundraiser for the Women s Haven and Beautiful Day. These funds will bring joy to some of the neglected within our community. In both the John 6:35 meal and Wrapped in Grace, we made a difference in our community. Thanks to all who helped make these blessings happen! May God s Peace Be with You, Rev. Dr. Greg Tolle, Senior Minister Inquiring Hearts and Minds Sermon Series The season of Lent is a time when our hearts and souls yearn for a Savior. It is also a time of examining our lives and questioning our priorities and whether or not we are prepared for what Christ offers. This Lent we will examine a series of questions related to our faith and our Savior. The sermons left in the series are: April 6 Would You Believe? Matthew 11:1-26. April 13 Who Killed Jesus? Matthew 21:1-11 April 20 Who Needs Easter? Matthew 28:1-10 Holy Week Activities Holy Week begins on April 13 with the celebration of Palm Sunday. The Maundy Thursday Service, April 17, will be observed with music: Testimony of Life and Holy Communion. There will be a very special addition to this service at its conclusion that you will not want to miss. This service then carries over to Easter Sunday Morning, April 20. In the Traditional Worship Service at 10:15, the service will begin with an enactment of the women going to the tomb. Music and narration will accompany this part of the service. The benediction at the Traditional service will be the singing of Handel s Hallelujah Chorus. The choir will be joined by those in the congregation who would like to sing with the choir. An orchestra will be here for the Maundy Thursday as well as the Easter Sunday service. Music Notes The Traditional worship service Sunday, March 30 was a spirit filled experience for all who came to worship. The White Cross Ringers played a piece that showed their skill and dedication to excellence. I might be just a little prejudiced, but the presentation was wonderful. The anthem, I Believe presented one of those moments when everything comes together in such a spirit filled way that hearts are touched by singing it as well as hearing it. A special thank you to Leigh McEntire and Tara Cook for their vocal offerings which enhanced the spirit of the song. All of this superlative stuff led to an outstanding sermon. We plan and strive for excellence in worship each week. Each week we do the best we can on that particular day; however, this Sunday..well, it was extraordinary! If you were not here, you missed this spirit filled experience. Sunday, April 6 will be the fifth Sunday in Lent. The Children s Chimes will be ringing the Introit. The Chancel Choir anthem for this Sunday will be an arrangement of The Old Rugged Cross. Rev. Dr. Greg Tolle will continue the Lenten sermon series: Inquiring Hearts and Minds. His sermon title is Would You Believe? built on the scripture from John 11:1-45. The Liturgist for the month of April is Marcus McEntire. We will be observing Holy Communion this Sunday. The Communion Steward for April is Ray Ingram. The Communion Servers are: Rev. Dr. Tolle and Marcus McEntire, Eryn and Brad Bull, James & LaVonna Funkhouser and Kim & Caleb Taylor. Hope to see you Sunday in Traditional Worship. You will be blessed. Winifred Bailey Director of Traditional Worship & Music Wow! Wrapped in Grace was such a wonderful weekend for everyone involved! Tara will give a detailed report in her column, but I wanted to express my personal gratitude to all who worked so hard to help us show compassion, grace and love to so many women last weekend. Not only did we help raise lots of money for charity but we had face-to-face connection and conversation with women who knew we were reaching out to them because of our relationship to Christ! Wednesday Night Live is quickly approaching the end of the spring semester! We are planning a couple of Wednesday nights of living what we have learned through our studies this year. We will participate in some hands-on mission/service type projects probably on April 23 and 30. Watch the Proclaim the next couple of weeks for details. Shalom, Kathy Gibson Ministry Coordinator KATHY S CORNER

The contributions secure the critical link that sustains important ministries in our own Conference and around the world. With the full sharing of your 2013 apportionments, your church has enhanced our participation in so many areas of service. What your church has accomplished is nothing less than remarkable! So, on behalf of the Treasurer, the Council on Finance and Administration, and all the people whose lives are touched through your gifts to the United Methodist Church and the Oklahoma Annual Conference, we all say thank you! Lives have been changed and disciples have been made because you stepped out in faith, sharing and giving your full measure. Our conference is extremely blessed to have congregations such as yours that enable us to fulfill our mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ! Again, thank you so much for all you do.
