Continue to Tzipori to see the ruins of a Galilean Village from the days of Jesus. Then visit Nazareth Village for a first-hand experience of the way of life in the ancient Galilee, including a biblical-style lunch. Visit the Church of the Wedding in Cana, the site of Jesus first miracle, converting water into wine. Back in Nazareth, visit the Church of the Annunciation and St. Joseph s Grotto. Then, visit Mt. Precipice where Christ was taken out of the city in order to throw Him down the cliff. (Luke 4:29) Take in the view of the Jezreel Valley (Armageddon), Mt. Tabor (The Mount of Transfiguration; Matthew 17) and Mt. Gilboa where Gideon chose his 300 brave men. Return to Nazareth for dinner and overnight. (B,L,D) SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 05 - NAZARETH Take a private boat ride on the Sea of Galilee to see the 2,000 year old Genosar Boat discovered in 1986. Visit Peter s House in Capernaum and then continue to the Mount of the Beatitudes, site of the Sermon on the Mount and the Miracle of the Fishes. Enjoy a St. Peter s fish lunch at Kibbutz Hagoshrim. Then walk to a unique location on the River Jordan where you may reflect on your own baptism. In the Upper Galilee, visit Banias (Caesarea Philippi), the source of the Jordan River and the site of Peter s confession you are the Christ. (Matt. 16:18) Return to Nazareth for dinner and overnight. (B,L,D) SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 06 - NAZARETH Visit Megiddo, the Hill of Battles, where archaeologists have uncovered 20 civilizations built one upon another. At this site, King Solomon built his vast stables and good King Josiah died in battle. On Mt. Carmel, visit the Carmelite Monastery of Muhraka, where God caused Elijah to defeat the priests of Ba al. Continue to Acko to visit the Knights Halls, one of the most beautiful remains from the crusader period. Return to Nazareth for dinner and overnight. (B,D) MONDAY, NOVEMBER 07 - JERUSALEM Drive to the ruins of Caesarea, a large port city built by Herod the Great. Herod built a port in the bay and erected all the cultural institutions found in every great Greco-Roman city - a theater, a hippodrome, and a luxurious bathhouse. In order to supply water to the city s ever-growing population, he built an aqueduct system stretching from the springs of Mt. Carmel to Caesarea. Part of this system is still visible today. The book of Acts refers repeatedly to Caesarea as the city Peter visited. (Acts 10) Continue into the Judean Hills to the village and Church of Emmaus. Continue to Jerusalem for dinner and overnight. INBAL is a 5-star deluxe hotel located within walking distance of Jerusalem s historical and religious sites. www.inbal-hotel.co.il (B,D)
TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 08 - JERUSALEM Drive 6 miles south to Bethlehem, birthplace of Jesus, to visit the Church of the Nativity, the oldest church in the holy land still in use. Construction began in the year 326, based on the oral tradition that Jesus was born in a cave at the edge of the village. Return to Jerusalem and drive to the eastern side of Mt. of Olives to the Church of Bethpage. Visit the ancient first-century tomb and the church from which Jesus went up to Jerusalem on Palm Sunday. Continue to Mt. of Olives for a panoramic view of Jerusalem. Visit the Church of Pater Noster (Our Father), and the Church of the Ascension. Walk down the Mt. of Olives and see the site where Jesus predicted the future destruction of Jerusalem (Church of Dominus Flevit) and then on to the Church and Garden of Gethsemane. Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight. (B,D) WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 09 - JERUSALEM After an early breakfast, depart the hotel at 7:30am and drive to the St. Stephen s Gate. Enter the Christian Quarter of the Old City and see the Pool of Bethesda, where Jesus healed the blind man, and St. Anne Church, with extraordinary acoustics. Visit the Monastery of the Sisters of Zion and see the Floor of the Lithostrothos of the Ecce Ommo Arch (Behold the Man) and the Church of the Flagellation. Walk the Way of the Cross, the Via Dolorosa, to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. In 325, Constantine s mother Helen first requisitioned the area for a church. This 4th-century church was largely destroyed by the Turks in 1009 and partially restored in 1048. The impressive stone decorations adorning the façade date from crusader times. In its current form, the church preserves the crusader structure and is shared by two major Christian denominations, the Greek Orthodox and the Roman Catholic. The church enshrines a tomb that some traditions hold to be the place of Jesus burial and resurrection. Have an Arabic style lunch in the Old City. Then walk to the Jewish Quarter. See the Burnt House and the Herodian Quarter, vivid reminders of the Roman conquest and destruction of the Second Temple. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight. (B,D) Church of the Nativity, Bethlehem Garden of Gethsemane THURSDAY NOV 10 - JERUSALEM Drive to Caiaphas House (Church of Peter Galicantus) and see the dungeon where Jesus was held before his trial. Continue to Mt. Zion and visit David s Tomb and the Cenacle (The Upper or Last Supper Room). Walk down to the Western Wall, the only remains of the Second Temple and the holiest site in Judaism. At Davidson Center, view a multi-media presentation about Jerusalem in the days of Jesus. Recent excavations show us the Western Wall Tunnel, huge arched spaces just north of the Western Wall. These link up with a water tunnel cut through the rock to the north, apparently dug in the Hasmonean period (163 to 37 BC). Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight. (B,D) Mount of Olives

A local cantor will join us for a short memorial service there. Continue to the Shrine of the Book to glimpse the incredible Dead Sea Scrolls. Also see the wonderful model of Jerusalem from the days of Jesus. Next, visit Ein Karem and the Church of St. John the Baptist. Then climb to the Church of the Visitation and view the different versions of the Magnificat. Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight. See Qumran, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found in 1947. Continue to Masada, a natural fortress with majestic ruins overlooking the Dead Sea. Take a cable car to the top of the plateau for a tour. Jewish zealots held the rock against the unrelenting 10th Roman legion in 72 AD. The Romans built a massive attack ramp in order to conquer the fortress. The camps and other fortifications that encircle the mesa constitute the most complete Roman siege works to have survived to the present day. Descend by cable car and drive to the Dead Sea for a float. (B,D) Return to Jerusalem for a farewell dinner at the hotel.
